Things Teachers Want Parents to Know During Distance Learning.
1. We notice and appreciate the extra time you are putting in. We see parents helping with organization and supporting lessons. You are doing much, but we see how important your students education is to you and we appreciate your effort.
2. We really miss our students and wish they were in the building with us. We miss seeing their faces and and those small moments that make teaching in person so enjoyable. We understand the circumstances and recognize we have to do our best in this circumstance.
3. Remember, we are on the same team. We are here because we find joy when a student learns or reaches a milestone. Let's look for celebrations and recognize those together. Keep in contact to support our students.
4. Help, but don't do your child's work. Parents want their child to be successful in school. As a parent, support learning by knowing that learning requires struggle and having to figure out difficult problems. Allow your child to grow brain cells by solving problems on their own and by instead giving encouragement, providing clues, or ideas.
5. Communication is key. If you have any needs or concerns, please contact us. If something isn't clear or if you don't understand, please come to us and we will do our best to help. Also, we appreciate it when you bring things to our attending in a open, honest and caring way. Conflict or anger make communication more difficult
6. Keeping our promise for confidentiality is important. Please do not video or take pictures of the classroom without permission of the teacher. If you want to celebrate with your child online, talk to the teacher first as to the best way to do this.
