Still Accepting Donations for the RMCS November Food Drive!
Grade 5 students, as leaders of our school, are collecting, loading, and preparing food donations for pick up. RMCS has donated 209 pounds so far, and the record for RMCS is 912 pounds. We have two more weeks to go. Let's try to break that record! Keep up the great work, and thank you for caring for our school and the greater SB community!
UVM Athletes Connecting with RMCS Students
This week, members of the UVM Hockey & Soccer Teams engaged with students in the classroom and on the playground. The soccer players even donated bags of soccer balls for our students to play with at recess. Thank you, UVM athletes, for caring for our school!
Which one of these is just like the other?
On Monday, fifth graders took on the hilarious and creative challenge of decorating pumpkins to look like famous characters, like the RMCS principals. They made amazing replicas of Mrs. Sumner and Mrs. McD.!
Other categories were: Most Mathematical, Most like an Animal, Sportiest, Most Elegant, Most like Author Helen Frost, Most like a Disney Character, and Most like a 5th Grade Teacher. Can you guess the identities of some of the pumpkins below?
Creativity!
Creativity is all over the place at RMCS! I've snapped these photos over the last few weeks and just wanted to share.

"It's not what happens to you, it's what you do with what happens to you."
Chris Waddell, nephew of beloved RMCS educator Beth White, is gifting an assembly to RMCS in memory of his aunt. Chris is a Hall of Fame Paralympic athlete and the first “nearly unassisted” paraplegic to summit Mt Kilimanjaro. His Nametags program helps students move beyond the labels/limitations that we put on ourselves and others. Here is his promo video: https://youtu.be/tem6HXgUvoI.
We are inviting parents and caregivers to attend because Chris Waddell would love for the conversation to be continued at home. Please fill out this form if you plan to join us. We want to have a seat for you. Please understand that we will need to make a quick transition between the assemblies, so there will not be time for parents and caregivers to connect with students at the end of the K-2 assembly. Students will be sent directly back to class at the conclusion of the assembly.
8:30 - 9:00, Grades K-2- (abbreviated program, Chris' children's book, Q&A)
9:15 - 10:15, Grades 3-5- (45 minutes plus 15 Q&A)
For more information, check out Chris' Apple Podcast Preview.

COVID-19 BOOSTERS:
A gentle reminder that COVID-19 boosters (bivalent) are available for anyone five years and up, at least two months following the completion of primary or booster vaccination. According to the health department: boosters are an important part of protecting yourself from getting seriously ill or dying from COVID-19; they are recommended for most people; and both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given at the same visit.
Per the FDA, bivalent COVID-19 vaccines include a component of the original virus strain to provide broad protection against COVID-19 and a component of the omicron variant to provide better protection against COVID-19 caused by the omicron variant. To learn more, watch an FDA video about bivalent vaccines HERE and click HERE for more bivalent booster Q & A.
To receive vaccines, find a WALK-IN CLINIC HERE , contact your HEALTH CARE PROVIDER, or VISIT A PHARMACY.
