Creepy Clowns Statement
Parents, please assist us. We had three students report that they saw clowns. None of the claims were credible. Please talk to your child about this hype that social media has caused. We do not have any clown instances in Woodridge. While there has been one or two instances nationwide, there have been tens of thousands false claims. These claims are placing fear in children. We need to end the discussion of clowns here at Sipley as it is negatively impacting our children. If there is a clown sighting, the police should be called immediately. We want to hear about credible claims. We do not want hear-say, second hand accounts, or rumors to be spread in our school. Here is a statement from our district:
As you may have heard in the media, schools across the country are reporting threats or sightings in recent days of “creepy clowns.” We are communicating with the Woodridge Police Department and will work with them to investigate reports concerning our community. As has been widely reported in the news, this phenomenon is believed to be a widespread prank, and there has been no credible threat to school safety. However, the safety of Woodridge 68 students and staff is our top priority and we take all potential threats seriously; we will continue to closely monitor this situation. We ask parents and students to be cautious of what they share via social media and take any and all suspicious behavior/activity seriously and report it.
Sipley is Working Toward our Goal
Our goal this quarter was to do the preventative and positive work centered on relationship building which would result in no more than 33 office discipline referrals. Thus far we had 14 office discipline referrals, which means that we are on target to meet that goal! Another goal was to reduce the office discipline referrals that relate to physical aggression to no more than 9. As of today, we have 2 office discipline referrals related to physical aggression. We are well on our way of meeting our goal, which is great.
Overall, as I visit classrooms, there is a heightened belief in the value of school and the importance of learning that I am seeing. Kudos to our students and staff for all the hard work to establish classroom environments that allow teaching and learning to occur at the highest level possible.
STP No Cook Night
No Cook Nights are great in a variety of ways. A portion of the funds coming from our purchases come back to our school. This is an easy way to get involved in fundraising. Some of the nights are also an opportunity to see others outside of school.
On Tuesday, we have a great No Cook Night at BD Mongolian Grill, located in the Promenade. Come out and enjoy dinner, cooked by our Sipley Staff! We will have grillers there from 5:00 - 8:00. We will also have some staff there mingling with students and parents. Come out and enjoy time with other Sipley families! There will be several tip jars at the grill. We ask that you tip the one that has Sipley on it.
