Black Holes

What are black holes?
A black hole is a region of space-time from which gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping. The most common theory is where gigantic star with a mass of more than 3 times the Sun’s reaches the end of its life, gets crushed under its own gravity, leaving behind a compact black hole.
Colossal Star
This is what the black hole is before it actually becomes a black hole.
Dying Star
When a star dies, it no longer has any gas to burn and gravity collapses the star.

This is what the star will look like after gravity's affect on the dying star.
Interesting Facts of Black Holes!
- Black holes actually make noises when active.
- Some scientists think that they help make elements that we need to life. They break down subatomic particles and convert them into elements that we may need.
- The force of Black holes are so strong that in the past, they have caused gravitational time dilation which means that they have actually made time stop.
- The nearest black hole to us is around 1,6000 light years away converted into 16 quadrillion kilometres from the earth.
