Heartwarming praise
Below is a note that was written to staff members after a recent case conference. I was so appreciative that a parent took time to thank our staff and I am very proud of the way our staff worked with the family. There are hundreds of parents that feel that way about your efforts. They might send you an email expressing their thanks, but I know it is true from the comments I hear from patrons about the way our staff treats children.
Thanks for being the wonderful people that you are!
"Hello,
I just wanted to take a minute to tell you both thank you from the bottom of my heart. We have struggled so much with how to help my child, and there was a point yesterday where I had to choke down my emotions, not because I was upset, but because I was overwhelmed by your support and compassion. You listen, you care, and you help. I have never felt like I was not heard with either of you. It has been the best experience having our kids at MRE, and I want you both to know how much you have helped us. Just thank you so much for doing what you do and loving our kids too. "
Best Buddies
Below is information from Jill Keller about the need for volunteers for the Best Buddy Respect Walk and Challenge Run. Sue, Berkeley, and I are working. I hope you can volunteer too.
The PHHS Best Buddies committee is in need of volunteers on November 4th for the Respect Walk and Challenge Run at Falls Park in Pendleton. The time frame is approximately from 12:15-3:30 PM. Volunteers are needed to stand and monitor the obstacles to make sure that participants of the challenge run get through their assigned obstacle safely. There will be two volunteers per obstacle and twenty-some different obstacles. I have helped out the last few years and it's a fun day watching runners maneuver through water, mud, and other obstacles.
If you would like to help, participate, or have further questions, please contact me.
Thank you,
Jill Keller

Daybreak with Dad
Daybreak with Dad was a huge success Thursday morning. Four hundred and eighty students and dads were served. Last year we had three hundred and fifty guests served.
We are looking at splitting up this event by grade levels next year.

Former Staff Member's Family
Below is a ink to a story that involves the family of Mandy Duke, one of our former staff members. The child that died was her sister's child. Please keep Mandy and her family in your prayers. https://www.wthr.com/article/child-dies-accidental-drowning-noblesville-creek

Don't forget that we start at 7:00 AM that day. We need to be in the cafeteria, seated and ready to learn at 7:00.

Lunar Lessons
The lunar effect (or reactions from a full moon) are not necessarily purely data proven, but working in a school we definitely see our fair share of effects that seem to 'happen' during a full moon. This week, I wanted to share some interesting facts about the full moon.
-The word lunacy and the related term lunatic was coined in the mid 16th century and referred to a temporary insanity in humans that were attributed to the moon. This term also has its origin in the Latin word luna, which means moon.
-In a variety of professions (ER doctors, firefighters, police officers) crazy accidents and incidents are often seen on nights when there is a full moon.
-A study of sleep indicated that during a full moon, it may take you longer to fall asleep, causing you to sleep less and producing less deep sleep.
-The moon affects water in the oceans (tide), and water in our bodies. Some believe during a full moon emotions can be magnified and feelings can be intensified.
-Some say it is best to avoid making important decisions two days prior and up to two days after the full moon ceases.
FYI- the next two full moons start on November 22nd and December 22nd. Prepare yourself now.
