Mrs. Mathew LEAP Classroom
All About Mrs. Mathew
Hi, I’m Santhi Mathew. I’m a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher! I have been in education for 12 years (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) and have taught in both Oklahoma and Texas. I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University—Go Pokes! I am the GT Facilitator here at Rockbrook. I believe that allowing students time for enrichment will help grow their minds as well as their confidence. This teaching role is incredibly enjoyable because I get to witness students becoming experts on topics while watching them get a better understanding of themselves as learners.
Now to my family! They are my rock. My husband is the greatest guy I know and we have been friends since we were 5 years old. We have two children, Maya and Jacob, and they make us laugh all the time because they are so silly. When I have free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, jogging, and sewing.
- As GT Facilitator, my main role is to provide services to identified LEAP students through individualized instruction that focuses on self-awareness, communication, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, research, and leadership.
- I provide Enrichment classes for students in 3rd through 5th grade based on assessment data and classroom observations
- I also provide Enrichment classes for K-2 with the Creative Thinking Club on Club Fridays
- I enjoy visiting K-2 classrooms multiple times throughout the school year to conduct planned experiences. Planned experiences are pre-arranged activities that are completed individually by the students after a whole group lesson. The results of planned experiences can show the possibility of a student possessing GT attributes. Further testing will determine qualification and entry into the GT program.
