Summer Update #2

What's going on?

Summer Camp is off to a great start! We have nearly 175 Campers enrolled in our two programs and they are having a great time! There is limited space available in some age groups. Our Summer Academic program will begin on Monday, June 26th for students in incoming 1st thru 8th grade who either need a little extra help or want enrichment.

Parents, please come to the school office to pick up your child's final report card and SAT scores. If you do not come and pick them up, we will begin mailing report cards on Tuesday ( if your account is in good standing) but we would really appreciate them being picked up.

New Website

We are happy to share with you our new website and hope that you will use it. Here you will be able to find our school calendar, find and print important documents and information, access links to important sites, check on the lunch menu, etc. Additionally, you can find links to send an email to any staff member. Please visit our website at

Summer Reading

If your child is going into 2nd thru 8th grade, please don't forget about the summer reading requirements. This has been stream-lined greatly but it is still very important that your children are spending time READING every day. There are many different phrases to describe what happens to children when they are out of school for an entire summer such as summer slump, summer brain drain, summer slide, etc. You can help your child avoid that by keeping the brain active and reading is a great way. Please see our website for information on the summer reading requirements or stop by the school office.

Holy Cross has established a dress code to provide uniformity, reduce social stigmas and encourage neatness and self discipline. It is the responsibility of the parents to monitor their child’s adherence to the school dress code and uniform policy.

Please visit our school website for up to date information on our dress code or visit the school office and pick up a copy of this information.

Please note that we did listen to your feedback and we have made some modifications to our dress code. Shoes for K and up can be solid black, white or navy and may have a small logo. Socks may be black, white or navy. We have traded the pale yellow shirt for a bright yellow shirt, however, you may continue wearing the pale yellow shirt for next year.

These must be up to date for your child to begin school in August. Please provide updated health and immunization records to the school office by August 14th. The physical examination form is valid for 2 years and the immunization form is dependent on the age and vaccination schedule of the student. If you have any questions, please contact Marluys Sejba in the school office

1st Tuition Payment and Balances due

Parents, your first tuition payment is due on August 1st. This is a change from last year (July 1st). This will be billed to your account and a statement will be emailed to you. However, it is your responsibility to know that tuition is due on the 1st day of each month even if you do not get a statement. Tuition is due on the 1st of each month, however, you do have a 10 day grace period until the 10th of each month. If you have a balance due from this year, it must be paid in full by the 1st of August.

You will find a link to Vanco payments at the bottom of this email.

Payments are made from your checking or savings account. You can set up one-time payments or recurring payments. Credit card payments are taken in the school office.

For Parents of New Students Only!

Parents, please remember that we must have a copy of your child's FINAL report card as well as any standardized test scores for this school year, depending on the school. (FSA, MAP, ITBS, SAT10). Your child was admitted based on the admission test results and the records that were available at the time of testing but we must have the complete records for your child to be eligible to begin school.

Rudeness versus Meanness versus Bullying

There is alot of talk and concern about bullying and indeed it can be serious problem and needs to be addressed appropriately. We do not tolerate bullying at Holy Cross and we do take the necessary steps to correct the problem. However, sometimes the word "bullying" is used inappropriately. There is a difference between rudeness, meanness and bullying and this is well described in this article. For behavior to be considered "bullying" it must be on-going and repeated. Please click on the link.

Bullying is defined as:

Unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated over time. Bullying can be physical, verbal, cyber or emotional.
