Who is Arion?
Some say Arion was an immortal horse born of Demeter, who was raped by Poseidon. Demeter was in the form of a horse, which in result made Arion a horse. These say that he lived in Lesbos in Acient Greece. Others say Arion is the son of Poseidon and a naiad, was favored by Apollo, and lived in Corinth. He lived in about B.C. 625. Arion had a great musical talent and was a great poet. He sang praise to Apollo to help him.

Arion Being Saved By The Dolphin
In the story, Arion was on a ship and pirates turned on him and threw him overboard. He sang praise to Apollo and charmed a dolphinn. This dolphin saved him from drowning.

Facts About Arion
Arion was born in Lesbos, Ancient Greece. He was famous for his poetry and musical talents. When Arion sailed with pirates he was thrown overboard and saved when he charmed a dolphin with his music. Arion played a kithara, which is a stringed-instrument that looks like a harp. Arion sang at many king's courts. The story of Arion can be found in the book Favorite Greek Myths by Lilian Stoughton Hyde, published in 1904 by D. C. Heath and Company.
