Narrated by Death, The Book Thief is a story about a young German girl, Liesel Meminger whose given up by her mother to live with Hans and Rosa in a small town of Molching in 1939, shortly before World War II. Liesel's life is shaped by three basic things, death, words, and friendships. Each of these things portray influence over the way she sees the world and deals with the difficult circumstances she faces.
