Mr. Dane
We decided that Mrs Dane is not going to be coming in the lifeboat. This is because of the problems that would occur if she were to come with us. Mrs Dane would be a huge problem if she happened to go to because of her illnesses. Her diabetes would mean that she would need to keep her blood sugar at the correct level. Along with obesity with comes with a long list of side effects and issues of its own. Therefore the negatives of Mrs. Dane outweigh the positives.
Mrs. Drake
Bobby
Bobby is a necessary person to take on the lifeboat due to the fact that he is still a kid and does not deserve to be left to die. Another reason that Bobby is going to the island is the fact that he provides an incentive for Dr Dane (his father) to come and aid with survival and teaching on the island. With taking Bobby, it provides enough justification for Dr Dane to leave his wife on the boat to die in order to protect his son on the island.
Mrs. Victor
The reasons we would not be bringing Mrs. Victor are many. Not only does she not contribute, she would bring the group down. She has a very small education and she doesn't have a career that would contribute to the group at all. Other people in the group are doctors and college graduates but she has not even graduated high school. She was also married at 16. The marriage itself is not necessarily a bad thing by itself but her decision making ability is questioned. She was married for two years at a very young age and this is a display of impulsive decision making.
Jean Garcia
Jean Garcia is only three months old. It is morally wrong to kill an innocent child, who has many years ahead to thrive upon the land. She would be useful in later years to come. Not knowing what actual civilization is like, adapting to the island would come easy to her.
Mary Evens
Mr. Newton
Mrs. Clark
Mrs. Clark is another person that should come on the lifeboat. She is a young woman who just graduated college and is an electronics engineer. She has a good education and could contribute to the group because she is smart enough to address a problem and solve it. She is also an engineer. Engineers are very innovative and they understand how things work. The group could use Mrs. Clark's knowledge in order to figure out how certain things work. The things the group does depends on the personnel they bring and with Mrs. Clark's career experience and education it is an easy decision.
Mr. Blake
Mr. Blake coming along in the boat was a very easy choice. He has a lot of positives he could bring to the group that connects with other people's skills. He is old enough but not to old to hinder the group. He has experience in mechanics and construction. Construction is a very good thing to know when you are on an island. When you land on the island you need to construct some kind of shelter to face the rough weather conditions. Mr. Blake also enjoys the outdoors so he might have experience knowing what you can use to build and what you can't use. He is a very resourceful person to have in the group and he has a lot to offer to help the survival of the group.
Father Frans
Dr. Gonzales
We have decided that Dr. Gonzales is not going to come on the lifeboat. While many people would say that he is essential because he is a doctor, and although this is a understandable argument, if you look at his own medical history you notice that it is just silly to even consider bringing him to an uninhabited tropical island. At the age of 66 Dr. Gonzales has already had two heart attacks. Bringing a man that has a history of heart attacks to a hot, humid tropical island with no air conditioning or relief for the hot humid stagnant air is just asking for trouble. If he has a heart attack on the island with no medical equipment to save him he will die, then we have already lost one person, which means that he came and died when someone who was killed could have survived. Furthermore we don't need another doctor Mr. Newton is in his last year of medical school and much healthier than Dr. Gonzales.
