LAHS
News Feed 11/15/21
Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate Veterans Day with us.
Here is the video that was shown at the assembly.
Students are starting to feel the pressure of high school, especially our seniors. Just know it is okay if you do not know what you want to do after high school. Although, it is time to start doing your research. ICAP (Individual Career Academic Plan) is a way to assist students in their journey. There are so many resources out there it is overwhelming. Okcollegestart.org is a program that all our students (6th-12th grades) have access to. They should have started the beginnings of this years activities in their advocacy class. Have students log in and start exploring on their own too. Here is a quick link to the ‘College Planning’ page. Also a senior checklist that might help you feel a little at ease. Other grade level checklists can be found on the “Scholarships/college” link at the bottom of this newsletter.
NOT everyone is college bound which is completely fine. Not every career out there must have a college degree but some planning is still required. Should you look at a technology center? What do technology centers offer? What open jobs are there? What are my likes and dislikes in a job. How much does this job pay in Oklahoma? Here is a link to “Career Planning”. I try to stress to the students that this activity is NOT just for college bound students. Okcollegestart.org is for everyone, even adults.
ATTENDANCE!!! Please-please bring doctors notes to Ms. Doiron if you have them. If your student is going to be absent, please-please, communicate that with Ms. Doiron. Per the State of Oklahoma, students must be in attendance for 90% of the semester. If they are not, they can/will lose credit in classes which in turns puts them in a tough position to stay on track for graduation. Students can have 8 or less absences in a class (hour). The 9th absences they will lose credit for that class. Ms. Doiron is sending out letters daily! Truancy is being filed with the county if needed. If you have questions about this call the high school office, 405-329-1612.
Four more weeks until the end of the semester. Don’t think 4 weeks, think 16 school days!! Check your students grades on your parent portal to make sure they are on track for this semester.
Stay safe.
Mrs. Harp

Senior information
Price currently $42.95. Price will go up sometime around December.
Please make sure you order asap! As we have told the students and it was talked about during the Senior Information Night…we ask that you do not order a gown from a different company. The blues will not match. If you have a sibling/friend that has graduated in the last 6-7 years and the gown is still in good shape, you may wear it. If you have questions about what you have, please bring the gown to the counselors office and we will see if the blue matches.
If you need assistance in a cap and gown, see Mrs. Stroud.
Jostens was at the school on 11/10 to take orders. If you missed this, you may order online as well. See link above. Please do not send payments to LAHS. Payments are to be made straight to Jostens.
