Plano ISD Retiring eNews Effective September 19
Dear McMillen eNews Subscriber,
Plano ISD’s current eNews application is being retired by the district. Schools will no longer be able to use the eNews application after September 19. Parents will continue to receive school news and information via email using the SchoolMessenger system. For SchoolMessenger, we use the email address that parents provide during the enrollment process (which can be updated through Parent Portal). If you are a parent and are not currently receiving emails from our campus or the district, please visit www.pisd.edu/schoolmessenger for technical assistance.
For nonparents, you can still view school news and updates by visiting our website at www.pisd.edu/mcmillen. We also invite you to follow us on social media at @mcmillennation on Twitter and Instagram.
Thank you for remaining engaged with our campus.

Contribute to the Holiday Cookbook!
Dear McMillen Family,
Each year from September 15 to October 15, we as a district celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. During this month, McMillen would like to take time to celebrate the history, cultures, language, and contributions of Hispanics and Latinx people to our city and this country. This is also an opportunity for us as a school to affirm and demonstrate our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion for all of our students, staff, and community.
Our goal this year is to compile a Holiday Cookbook. We would like to collect recipes from our diverse community. We ask that you send us your favorite family cultural recipe by completing this FORM. To honor Hispanic Heritage Month, we will focus on our dishes from the Hispanic and Latinx cultures. All submitted recipes will be put in a Campus Recipe Book. We look forward to you sharing your family recipe!

Note to Parents Regarding Student Withdrawals
Dear Parents,
Grades in Pinnacle update automatically on Mondays, but it takes additional time to get the most recent grades added to the gradebook. Please allow for at least one business day for the counselors to collect updated grades from a student's teachers.
Thank you.
AVID News
Guest Speakers Needed
Every year in AVID one of our most impacting components of the program is having guest speakers share about their profession. McMillen AVID students are always thinking about college majors, and they love exposure to as many as possible. That's where guest speakers help the most. Whether you own a business, are in the medical profession, the world of transportation, hospitality, engineering, law, human relations, trade professions…we would love to schedule you to speak to our students. They are always interested and have an abundance of questions. If you would be willing to come share your profession with us, or if you know someone who would like to come be a guest speaker in our AVID classes, please contact Mike Abney, our AVID Coordinator, at michael.abney@pisd.edu. Please consider sharing what you do with our students! We're looking forward to hearing from you.
