Shout Outs from Parents & Students
Way to go! You are making a difference to our families!
Parents: Please take a minute to share a shout out with our staff members.
Mr. Parker: I really liked how Mr.Parker put all the religious dates that are important to our families.
Mr. Thorton, and Mr. Reeves: Mr. Thorton teaches well Social Studies, he is so formal and the way he speaks makes it easier to understand, there are some teachers that are not as clear and precise as Mr. Thorton, and I really appreciate that, he is also very nice to all of his students. Mr. Reeves is so nice to me and many of my friends in the hallways, I don't have Mr. Reeves (Sadly) but he is still very nice to me. Even if he does not know a student he is still so welcoming as we were in his class.

April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.
Greetings Taylor Road family, it’s Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month and I'm Alicia McClung, the School Social Worker. I want to take the time out to share some resources with our school community on how to grow better together. Protective factors are strengths within a family and community which help develop and promote health and well-being among families. The five protective factors are parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in the times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence of children. Parenting is the hardest job ever! We all need support and encouragement for the journey of raising healthy kids. This link provides tip sheets of discussion starters that can be used to explore ways to better engage with your family.
When we embrace and foster these protective factors, it provides a solid foundation of growth and positive relationship building. If at any time you have questions or want to explore additional support, feel free to reach out to me at 470-254-8710 or via email at mcclunga1@fultonschools.org.
#GrowingBetterTogether
TRMS is planning to celebrate the many cultures and countries under its roof.
International Night will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 6:00 PM.
The ceremony will start with a Parade of Flags representing students from all over the world at TRMS, in this school year.
Following the parade, a cultural entertainment will be performed. Participants will display traditional dances, outfits, and other performances which will be followed by a sampling of food from different countries. Families are asked to bring an ethnic dish from their countries to share. It is required to list ingredients in these dishes to inform those who may have concerns with food allergies.
Dear Parents,
As we head towards the end of the school year, mandated testing will play a crucial role in assessing how much our students have learned throughout the year. One of those tests happening soon is the Georgia Milestones Assessment, which measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students in grades 3 through 8 take an end-of-grade (EOG) assessment in each content area, while high school students will take an end-of-course (EOC) assessment for each of the courses designated by the State Board of Education, which counts for 20% of the students’ grade.
Participation will be critical. With the absence of significant testing data from the last two years, this year’s scores will be used to establish a new baseline for the schools and districts. The results will be used for College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) and other important school level and school system rankings.
Georgia Milestones Assessment Dates:
- Elementary Schools
May 4th-12th - Middle Schools
April 25th-May 6th - High Schools (American Literature and Composition, Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History)
April 25th-29th

Our Community’s Diversity Brought To Life Through Stories!
The TRMS Cultural Diversity Committee is inviting parents, relatives, and community members to help enrich our school’s social studies curriculum with live and in person testimonials. We are trying to assemble a panel/series of speakers who have impactful stories they would be willing to share with our students and our community.
Learning history from real people who were involved in or witness to real events helps to paint a deeper picture of that history and to bring those events to life.
Our rich and diverse school community surely has so many stories to share which would be relevant to either units of study in our social studies classes or important cultural events on our calendar. Some of our social studies classes will be/are beginning units on World War II and then moving into studies of the Civil Rights Era.
Simultaneously, while we are nearing the end of February and Black History Month, we will be entering Women’s History Month in March and Arab American Heritage Month in April, which will also coincide with the Muslim month-long observance and fasting of Ramadan. And closer to the end of April on the 28th will be Yom Hashoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is the Jewish memorialization of the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
If you or a relative of yours has a real-life event or important historical story to tell that will educate and inform our diverse school community, please contact our social studies teacher and co-chair of the diversity committee, Dr. Aquil Bayyan, who can help coordinate your appearance at school. We look forward to hearing from you and to hearing your family’s important story told!
Parent/Guardian Information About Student Success Skills
Backpacks of Love
At TRMS we have a program called “backpacks of love”. The purpose of this program is to provide assistance by donating non-perishable items to our families. The participants’ names are known only to the counselors and social worker. Once every two weeks a backpack with food items are available to go home. A student can carry the backpack home, or the parent can pick it up at the front office. All we need to know is if you would like to participate, how many adults are in the house, how many children are in the house, and if there are any dietary allergies such as peanut butter. We can only provide for a certain number of families so the sooner you reply the better. We will respond regardless of whether you are in the program or if supplies run out.

Covid Reporting - Reminder
FCS continues to ask parents to report when their student has been tested. Please refer to the following guidance for reporting:
- Use portals to report pending tests, positive test results, and direct exposures outside of FCS.
- If you are awaiting test results, have a negative test, and/or are asymptomatic, your student may continue to report to school with a mask.
- If you are symptomatic or have a positive test, you are not to report to school.
Parents must use the Parent Reporting Portal to make a COVID-19 report. FCS will only send notifications for direct contact exposures at FCS facilities
