Kindergarten Happenings
What happened in January?
2D & 3D Shapes
We went on a shape hunt around the school to see how many 3D shapes we could find. As part of our homework we had to look for 3D shapes at home. We could bring one in to share with the class.
Winter Learning Stations
Winter Ski Pals Letter Order
Ella and Gavin work together to put letters in order using links.
Downhill Letter Fun
Landon and Taylor pull a card from the bucket. They write the letter in the snowflake and either write the letters before and after OR write the next 3 letters.
Winter Sports Write the Room
Kaden and Dylan K find either the ice skate or sled cards around the room. They have to either write the beginning blend, the beginning sound or ending sound of the pictures.
Winter Sports -emergent reader
Gayatri and Connor trace parts of sentences about winter sports and then draw or write what they like to do in the winter.
Winter Count the Room
Dylan R finds the purple cards and count the number of items on each.
Ten Frame PlayDoh Mats
Landon and Grace fill in ten frames with PlayDoh and then write the number sentence to equal 10.
Snowman Number Order Fun
Kaden and Gayatri pull 3 numbers from a bucket. They place them in order from smallest to largest on the mat.
Polar Order
Taylor and Gavin place snowflakes on items in different number order. Then they open the card to see if they were correct.
Ice Fishing with Sight Words
Snowmen at Night
We read "Snowmen at Night"; "Snowmen at Work"; and "Snowmen All Year". We discussed what we thought snowmen would do at night and listed it. We wrote about what we would do if we were a snowman at night.
We did an art project that involved cutting and glueing small pieces of paper to make a snowman head.
We thought about what we would do with a snowman if he or she was around all year. We drew what we'd do in each season with our snowmen.
Spelling
To practice the spelling rule or pattern we are starting to sort words. Some of the words are on our list while others are not.
