Principal's Message
Hello Preschool families! Happy Friday! This week was so exciting! The students continued their study of either Boxes or Making Music and December is here!
With colder weather upon us, please be sure to dress your child in layers of clothing each day. We will continue to go outside to play even when the weather gets a little colder. The playtime may be cut a little bit short, but the students will still go outside. Please send your child with clothing to keep him/her warm while outside playing. If you need any assistance at all with getting some warm clothing for your child, do not hesitate to let us know. We can assist you with that!
A quick reminder: Please remember to follow South Benedict St. around behind our school and turn right onto Carver Ave. This will allow you to turn right into our parking lot or car loop. This request is for everyone’s safety. Please do NOT turn left into our car line.
In addition, you are always welcome to walk your child into his/her classroom. To do so, please park in either of our parking lots and walk in. Please do not ever leave your car in our car loop.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Education
Teacher of the Year
We want to congratulate ORSP 22-23 Teacher of the Year, Charlsey Cofer.
She was nominated by her coworkers, who said: Ms. Cofer is one of the best teachers I’ve ever met. She is kind, passionate, patient, and loving. She is wholeheartedly committed to her students and their families.
Teaching Assistant of the Year
We want to congratulate ORSP 22-23 Teaching Assistant of the Year, Ki'Anna Gibson. The preschool staff nominated her, saying: Ki’Anna is kind and supportive. She is organized, eager to research and learn new things, and is always willing to try a new approach. She uses her creativity to help keep the children involved in the activities they are doing. She makes sure each play time is also a learning experience.
Boxes- 3-year-old and Multi-age classrooms
Boxes are endlessly fascinating to young children. Perhaps more than any other toy or game, boxes have the power to hold children's attention and spark their imagination in astonishing ways. Open-ended and plain, the cardboard box is full of possibilities that most children cannot resist bending it to their will. A study of boxes builds on children's natural curiosity and promotes important skills as children gather information, learn about the world around them, and solve problems.
Making Music- 4-year-old classrooms
Many of us have fond memories that involve music. What special music do you associate with important celebrations? What kind of beat can you not help but tap your feet to when it comes on the radio? Have you noticed your child tapping along with you? What songs from your childhood do you and your child enjoy singing together? Music has a wonderful way of translating across many generations, cultures, languages, and communication styles. We are excited to begin a study of music-making in our class that will engage and build on children’s curiosity around music, sound, and performance.
