SRES
Principal's Message
Parents,
We are off to a great school year at SRES! Last month we celebrated National Arts in Education Week. As you know, the arts are an essential part of a complete education. Students of all ages—from kindergarten to college, benefit from artistic learning, innovative thinking, and creativity. Celebrating National Arts in Education Week is a way to recognize this impact the arts have made here at SRES in order to provide your children with a well-rounded education. Thank you for continuing to support FCPS’ first Arts Integrated/STEAM school!
November 9, 10, and 11 is conference week. Please be on the look-out for notifications coming this month to sign up for a conference time. Mrs. Henson, Community Liaison, will be holding a “Preparing for Parent/Teacher Conferences” Table Talk for new to conference families or those that are not sure what to expect during student conferences on Thursday, October 27th. A notice of time will be coming home soon in Thursday folders.
Thank you again for all you do as parents and family to ensure that SRES ignites Success Through a creative Environment with an Achievement Mindset!
PTA News & Information
It's not too late to register your child for the SRES Walk-About Fundraiser! It only takes a couple of minutes to do it. Just go to www.thegetmovincrew.com, and once you are done, your child gets 10 Hoppy Dollars! There are prizes for individual donations and for classroom. Right now Team Keenan is in the lead with $415, followed by Team Legge with $310 and close behind Team Cooper with $300! The top two classes will have a Silly String Party where they will get to spray Mrs. Hosfelt and Mrs. Feldman.
The Fall Book Fair is just around the corner! It will run October 24-28. As always, we need lots of help to make this happen. Here is the Sign Up Genius link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508094ca9a622a64-sres6 . No experience necessary to volunteer!
Speaking of volunteering...we are in need of volunteers for many upcoming events. If you are interested in helping, contact Saleena DeVore at devore.srespta@yahoo.com or Alix Cooney at cooney6435@yahoo.com.
This year’s Reflections program is about to start! Reflections is an art contest where students are given a theme and asked to reflect on its meaning to create artwork inspired by it. This year’s theme is “What’s Your Story?” Students are invited to submit art in one of three areas: literature, photography, and visual arts. Look for details and entry forms in the upcoming Thursday folders.
You still have time to get yourself a coveted PTA School Directory! Hopefully we will have them out by the end of the month. The only way to receive one is to become a PTA member! We will be running a contest until the end of October! The class with the highest percentage of PTA members will get a $75 Amazon gift card to spend for the classroom!!
