Notes from the Office
Yes, there is school next week, December 18 and 19, and we finish 2023 with our annual Winter Sing-a-long assembly for students. This year it is also a pajama day. Enjoy the winter break December 20-January 7, and school resumes January 8!
Spirit Wear Coming Home! Be on the look out for spirit wear coming home today (12/15). If you ordered spirit wear and marked it as a gift, it is being held in the office for Monday or Tuesday pick-up prior to Winter Break. Thank you PTA for coordinating this!
Lost and Found! The lost and found is kept in the cafeteria. Please remind your child to check for their items while at lunch.
Attendance Updates: With the holidays approaching, we realize may families are traveling throughout the holiday season. Students anticipating absences of two or more consecutive days must have a “Pre-Arranged Absence Form” submitted to the office at least 3 days prior to the absence for the absence to be excused. This form can be found under Family Resources on the school website. Parents are asked to limit elective absences outside of school vacation days and to limit “make-up work” requests of teachers.

I'm a parent of a kinder-4th grader, why does it matter that 5th grade is going to Washington DC? We are glad you asked! Our DC Trip:
- Uniquely highlights our United for Children mission. We don't know of many elementary schools going to DC each year like Red Rocks.
- Sets the tone for all K-5 students: Leadership, Action, and Collaboration are the core principles of the learning opportunities, discussions, monuments, and more.
- Community Story Tellers! Kids don't just visit monuments, our community brings in speakers , such as someone in our school actually related to Abraham Lincoln! Yup!
- K-4th Grade students benefit: our 5th graders are leaders. They seek out chances to be a model for young students. Student leadership is a point of school pride and we see staff and students embrace this, often through the preparations for the DC Trip.
- Leaving a legacy: Families come back and visit us, and this trip is often a life-changer. We encourage K-4 families to start planning now. 4th Grade will have a team meeting this spring about the trip for 24-25 school year. Grades K-3, listen and learn to the grades ahead. You'll be glad you did!

Notes from the PTA
Red Rocks Elementary PTA's Board consists of its Officers and Committee Chairs. All of our Officer positions (President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer) are up for election (1 Year Terms) and will be voted on at our March General meeting. Committee Chairs will be voted on in May along with the 24-25 Budget.
While some members of our PTA board are returning, we have several board members who are “graduating” with their children or stepping back from their current roles. Please consider joining our Board as we would love to work with you and bring your ideas to our school. In order to continue offering all that our PTA does, these Officer positions and Committees must be filled each and every year. It truly takes a village to run our incredible volunteer PTA.
Help us continue all the incredible work of our PTA by joining our Board. Please see the Google Form for more information on these rewarding opportunities.
Financial Assistance for Paint on the Rocks
Every year our PTA hosts a variety of events and we want every student at Red Rocks Elementary who desires to be able to participate in these community experiences. Therefore, we would like to extend financial assistance to those families whose child may not otherwise have those opportunities. Our next event is Paint on the Rocks, if assistance is needed please fill out this form. Rest assured this information is not shared with anyone expect our PTA president and the event coordinator.
