KEEPING STUDENTS HOME FROM SCHOOL DUE TO ILLNESS

It can be difficult to decide when and how long to keep an ill child home from school. The timing of the absence is often important in order to decrease the spread of disease to others and to prevent your child from acquiring any other illness while his /her resistance is lowered.

  • If your child has a fever, is vomiting or has diarrhea they must stay home until they no longer have the symptom for 24 hours without the use of medication.

Please contact our School Nurse, Mrs. Ferron at 686-1743 if you have any questions.

Healthy Students are Better Learners

Substitute Nurses:

The Sycamore Community School District is currently looking for registered nurses who would like to be employed as substitute nurses. Applicants must have current nursing experience, preferably with children, special needs, diabetes and an active nursing license.

If you qualify and are interested, please call Julie Ferron, R.N. at 686-1743 or email at ferronj@sycamoreschools.org.

STUDENT DROP OFF PROCEDURES

For your convenience, we have a student drop-off opened from 9:00 - 9:10 on the left side of our building. We often have a constant stream of cars, so we ask that you please follow these few tips: Please pull up to the last waving adult. We try to unload 3 cars at a time. We ask that children be seated on the passenger side of the car, so they can exit next to the sidewalk and NOT cross in front of cars. We ask that parents DO NOT exit the cars in order to keep the cars moving in a timely manner. If you arrive AFTER 9:10, please park and walk your child into the office. Children will be marked TARDY if they arrive after 9:15.
