A Message from the Principal...
Dear friends,
On Friday we were fortunate to have a team of PUSD and SDCOE administrators visit our campus for the purpose of conducting Learning Walks. Danielle Rubacky, Megan Andrade, Barbara Beaudoin, Leslie Fisher and Mary Ellyn Tarzy graciously opened their classrooms to us. Teams of 3-4 administrators visited each classroom at 15 minute intervals with an eye on student engagement. We then met up to share our observations and make connections between what we saw and the new PUSD Continuum of Teaching Standards. This was a tremendous opportunity for us, because we were able to calibrate our thinking around teaching and learning. We then created strengths-based statements of "teacher moves" and their resultant impacts on student learning. If you're wondering what these look like, please follow this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g00av60h3qnEwmek0GuO88o610W9FmwFnGffaVECThg/edit?usp=sharing
It was certainly a great professional development opportunity for us all, but as administrators of the host school, Shaylene and I received the special gift of being able to highlight some of the amazing work being done at Twin Peaks. We saw evidence of academic rigor, high levels of student engagement and yes, students modeling the Ram Way while working collaboratively. While we only visited three classrooms, we know there is excellent work going on in each of your rooms. I can't tell you how proud I am of the work you all do on a daily basis to support our school community. Thank you for that. I can't think of a finer way to end my week.
On another note, I will be out of the office through Wednesday attending a STEM Conference in lovely Riverside, California. If you need me, please don't hesitate to text, call, or email.
Have a great week...and welcome to the second half of the school year!
Superintendent Phelps will visit us on February 1st at 8am the LRC

Speak Up Survey- Your voice is needed
Speak Up Research Project for Digital Learning
The Speak Up Project for Digital Learning, facilitated by Project Tomorrow®, gives education stakeholders the opportunity to share their viewpoints about key educational issues, particularly concerning digital learning and the use of technology to support future ready schools. By participating today, you are ensuring your voice is heard not only by your school and district but at the state and national level as findings are summarized and shared with national and state policy makers every year. Speak Up is both a national research project and a free service to all schools and districts. Poway Unified is participating in the survey this year and is asking teachers and staff to participate.
