Lamkin Lines

From the Principal
Fall is here! … Well, sort of! We are settling in, hoping for cooler weather and looking forward to the leaves changing and bringing out a real sweater! In year’s past at this time of year we would be planning for parent/teacher conferences, however this year will be a little different. There is no longer a specific date for elementary parent/teacher conferences, however, every teacher will be reaching out to you at some point to discuss your child’s progress in class. We continue to urge you to stay involved in your child’s education and in close contact with their teachers as the home school connection is now more important than ever.
Lamkin cherishes the rich traditions we have established over the years with our community and our plans have not changed, although they have been a little altered. The annual “Milk and Cookies” night at the Book Fair will be held again this year on Tuesday, November 16th, from 5:00-7:00pm in the library. This is always a fun event and fundraiser for the library to purchase new and exciting reading for our students. It is open to all families who choose to participate and to add a little more fun, wear your jammies!
Another two traditions we love at this school are Grandparent's Day and our annual Veteran's Day programs. We certainly intend to keep these traditions going, but due to Covid-19 safety precautions and the fact that our students are under the age to even choose to be vaccinated as well as knowing the general population that attends are usually of an older age, we have decided to keep everyone safe and video a program that is produced here on campus and that everyone can share with their grandparents, veterans, families and neighbors. We will send that out as soon as our music teacher, Mr. Proko, has it ready.
A gentle reminder…school hours are from 8:40 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Students arriving after 8:40 will be counted tardy, and car riders must be picked up at 4:10 p.m. Although our line is long, our car rider line moves quickly so the wait is not too long. Please make every effort to be on time to pick up your child as our staff have families and children to pick up as well, and are not able to stay late for tardy pick-ups. We do offer Club Rewind as a wonderful after school program, so if you are in need of extended child care on school days, please contact our community services program and they will be happy to help you.
We continue to gather data and monitor our student attendance as we dropped in that level this past year and continue to notice a trend. When our daily attendance rate drops below the 97%, we become concerned. Lamkin attendance significantly drops every Monday and Friday. With Covid-19 still lingering and the flu season and cooler weather quickly approaching we certainly understand that more students will be affected with illnesses, and we sincerely do not want students in school who are sick! That is all the more reason for our students to make every effort to attend school when they are not ill…to make sure they are receiving the good first instruction that takes place each day, in every class. Thank you so much for your help in this, we KNOW Monday’s are hard, but we also know we can make this happen.
As always, thank you for your support of our campus, students, and staff, we all so greatly appreciate it. Our students are thriving and so happy to be back on campus and the learning that is taking place is abundant and the smiles on our students faces warm all our hearts. If you have any comments, praises or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to call the school.

Knowing when and where your child gets on and off the bus gives you added peace of mind and makes it easier for you to plan your day. Click on https://www.zpassplus.com/ for additional information.
Change in Transportation
If you need to change the way your child is going home or you need to pick your child up early, please send a note with the student with their first and last name, grade and teacher and specific instructions on what needs to happen. All notes are due in the front office by 2:30 p.m. to allow us time to get the notes back to the teachers. Thank you for helping us get your child home safe to you!
