Lord God, bring us together as one,

reconciled with you and reconciled with each other.

You made us in your likeness,

you gave us your Son Jesus Christ.

He has given us forgiveness from sin.

Lord God, bring us together as one,

different in culture,

but given new life in Jesus Christ,

together as your body, your Church, your people.

Lord God, bring us together as one,

reconciled, healed, forgiven,

sharing you with others as you have called us to do.

In Jesus Christ, let us be together as one.

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Many thanks to everyone for the way that you have embraced the drop off and pick up protocols due to COVID-19. The process is much smoother and quicker now and there does not seem to be such a line-up of cars in the afternoons. I am also advising that with Kiss and Drive, staff will open and close doors and boot lids, but will not be clipping or unclipping seatbelts.

Due to the COVID-19 interruption to learning, the reporting process will be slightly different for the midyear report this year. We have been advised by the Curriculum Council and CEWA the process to follow for the midyear report. We are using a template designed by CEWA and SEQTA, and only English, Maths and RE will be reported on. The teachers will report on the general learning progress to date against the year-level Western Australian achievement standards. There will also be a general comment at the end of the report. All other learning areas will be reported on in the Semester 2 Report at the end of the year. We are still unable to have face to face parent meetings, therefore if there are any concerns please contact teachers via email, Zoom or by phone.

Please be aware that St Columba’s is required to provide information to the government each year through the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) information regarding students with disabilities. Students who are on a medical action plan may also be included in this information. Personal information is not provided to the NCCD.

COVID-19 has provided a great opportunity for our junior students to become much more independent with carrying their own bag and walking to and from classrooms on their own. I have attached a flyer from Michael Grose one of Australia’s leading parent educators on developing independence in children. It provides some timely advice in the current climate.

Have a great long weekend and if you are travelling, stay safe.

God Bless.

Allen McMahon
