Notes From the Office
CG Celebrates Pride Month: Join us in honouring Pride Month from June 19th-23rd with the following activities:
- Wednesday, June 21st - School Rainbow Photo: Each grade has been assigned a colour of the rainbow to wear to school. Classes will be going outside to take a school wide photo. Each grade will stand together as a colour, creating a school rainbow. Students who are unable to wear their colour will still be included with their class. No one will be excluded. Grade 3 students will be wearing the colour green.
- Friday, June 23rd - Spirit Day (Rainbow Day): Students are invited to wear rainbow colours. As with all spirit days throughout the school year, participation is optional.
- Friday, June 23rd - CG Diversity Parade: Classes will be going on a short walk so that they are able to share their school spirit and rainbow colours with each other. Students who are unable to wear rainbow colours will still be included with their class. No one will be excluded.
Pond Study Field Trip: Our class will be walking to the Fireweed Crescent storm pond on Monday, June 19th. Parents are welcome to join us. We will be leaving the school at approximately 11:30 am and returning after lunch around 1:30 pm. We will be bringing our lunches along as a “picnic” so please pack accordingly. Please consider possible changes in the weather when packing for this trip. I recommend that students bring: a packed lunch, water bottles, appropriate outdoor shoes that can get dirty/wet, hats, a towel to sit on, sunscreen and bug spray (optional). Parent volunteers who will be attending should plan on meeting our class at the school at approximately 11:25 am. Parent volunteers are encouraged to walk with the classes to the storm pond. Classes will be leaving to return to school at approximately 1:00 pm. Thank you!
3B Final Week Celebrations:
- Monday, June 26th - Music Monday: Students will be working together to record a music video utilising one of our favourite songs from the year and some of our favourite locations around the school. Students are invited to bring dress up clothes, costumes, props, etc. that they would like to use in the video.
- Tuesday, June 27th - Show & Share: Students are invited to turn the tables and become the teacher for the day! Students can choose to bring an item or belonging from home to share with their classmates, prepare a small presentation about a topic they are experts in, share a fun memory, read aloud a picture book or poem, etc. Students who wish to participate can choose something to share with or teach the class about. Please be mindful of time. Each student will be given approximately 5 minutes.
- Wednesday, June 28th - Pyjamas & Pancakes: Students are invited to wear their pyjamas to school and to enjoy a pancake breakfast together. Students will be working in small groups to prepare a sheet pan pancake recipe which we will bake and enjoy eating together! Similar to our previous taste tests throughout the year, students and families who wish to contribute sliced fruit or other ingredients can sign up on the provided Google Doc or send me an email/message about which item you will be providing. We appreciate items being pre cut or sliced when possible.
- Thursday, June 29th - School & Classroom Awards: Students will attend the Division 1 Awards Assembly to celebrate the accomplishments of their peers. Families of students who are receiving a school award will receive an invitation to attend this assembly. Due to the large size of our student population, only families of students receiving an award will be able to attend in-person. Students will return to their classrooms for a small, in-class award presentation where each student will receive their own, individual award.
