Healthy Habits
We are nearing the “sick” season of school. Please keep your child home for the following conditions:
FLU: Please keep child home until fever free without medicine for 24 hours. If in doubt, please keep your child home for their safety and the safety of other.
STOMACH VIRUS: Please keep your child home when they have vomiting/diarrhea. A child can come back to school when vomiting and diarrhea have stopped for 24 hours without medication.
STREP THROAT: Please keep your child home when diagnosed with strep for 2 days (the day diagnosed and next day). This allows time for the antibiotic to take effect and your child will no longer be contagious. The child must also be fever free for 24 hours without medication.
PNEUMONIA: A child must be fever free without medication for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Please follow the doctor’s guidelines on when your child can return.
If your child has been diagnosed with a medical condition and has to miss school, please email me so we can get a head count of what medical conditions might be present in the school. If you have any questions, please contact me.
