Reminder of end-of-the-year schedule
We’re entering the last two weeks of the 2021-2022 school year! As a reminder, Northwest ISD’s last day of school will take place Thursday, May 26. Every remaining school day is a normal, full school day. We look forward to ending the school year with excellence!
Preliminary STAAR results coming soon
The Texas Education Agency will soon release preliminary STAAR results, which Northwest ISD will email to families shortly thereafter. Please be aware these are not the full results with exact scores, though they will indicate whether students passed tests or not.
On June 24, the TEA will release your child’s specific score for each test through a private portal at www.texasassessment.gov. When this happens, Northwest ISD will email you the website and your specific student code to access results. Expect additional communication from NISD in the coming weeks regarding STAAR test results.
Voters return two to Northwest ISD school board
Northwest ISD voters have reelected Dr. Anne Davis-Simpson to the district school board, according to preliminary results. Following certification of results, Dr. Simpson will be sworn to a new term alongside Judy Copp, who ran unopposed, at the May 23 school board meeting.
In the May 7 election, unofficial results show voters electing Dr. Simpson to the Place 3 seat on the board after receiving 2,717 votes for 51.43 percent of the total tally. Judy Copp ran unopposed, meaning she also earned reelection to the board. Both women are retired educators and will begin new three-year terms on the board when sworn in at their next regular meeting.
Votes will be canvassed during a special meeting on May 17 to formally certify election results.
Meet Dr. David Hicks, Northwest ISD’s next superintendent
Northwest ISD’s next superintendent wants to meet you! All members of the community – students, staff, families and everyone else – are invited to a reception at the Northwest ISD administration building to meet Dr. David Hicks.
The reception will last from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 24. For those unable to make the event, additional opportunities are planned for the future, including high school zone events in the fall and Facebook Live.
Follow district construction on website
As the fastest-growing school district in North Texas, Northwest ISD regularly builds new schools to keep up with student enrollment growth. If you’re curious what’s being built across the district, visit www.nisdtxconstruction.org to see all the projects underway or planned.
Northwest ISD will open five campuses in August 2023, including three new campuses and two replacement campuses. With a projected annual enrollment growth of 2,500 students, new campuses will be constructed regularly to meet population needs.
Special education council accepting applicants
Through the SEPAC, district stakeholders can use their unique perspective and expertise to collaborate with Northwest ISD administration, educators and staff. The council will consist of 30 members, of which 15 will be district stakeholders, including students, family members, educators, staff, community members or similar individuals. These individuals will help improve the educational outcomes not just of students with disabilities, but all students.
To submit an application, click here. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, May 19. It can be reached via email at sepacnisd@gmail.com, or by phone at 817-215-0079. The council also operates a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SEPACNISD.
43 students earn fine arts scholarships totaling $4.5 million
Congratulations to the 43 Northwest ISD students who were recognized at the district's annual Fine Arts Scholarship Breakfast!
These seniors were awarded more than $4.5 million in fine arts scholarships, the highest amount ever recorded by a class of graduating seniors across Northwest ISD. Each student will now go on to study his or her desired major while also staying involved in fine arts in college. See photos from the breakfast here.

Pre-K info now available, lottery application open to April 22
Northwest ISD’s pre-kindergarten program is now accepting enrollment for those who qualify for state-funded pre-K and applications for those who would like their child to take part in the district’s tuition-based program.
Families who meet eligibility requirements, seen at www.nisdtx.org/prek, for the state-funded pre-K program can now enroll their children to take part in pre-K in 2022-2023. Because of limited class size, Northwest ISD’s tuition-based program is selected through a lottery system. Lottery applications may be submitted now through 5 p.m. on April 22. Tuition-based pre-K is a half-day program.
Students enrolled in Northwest ISD's pre-K program will establish positive relationships with teachers and peers; build vocabulary knowledge through hands-on experiences; and participate in a variety of educational activities. All students must be 4 years old by September 1, 2022.
Online enrollment for 2022-2023 now open
Online enrollment is now open for the 2022-2023 school year, and families can complete an easy 1-2-3 process for returning students to quickly register their children for next school year.
Enrollment is now open for all children – pre-kindergarten and up – whether they are currently enrolled, returning to the district after leaving or brand new to Northwest ISD. For families of currently enrolled students who will return next year, the process will take a matter of a few minutes with a quick, three-step process in Home Access Center. Learn more about the documents you’ll need to enroll, or get the process started at www.nisdtx.org/enroll.
Making Summer Plans?
Registration now open for summer TechnoCamp
Registration is now open for TechnoCamp 2022! TechnoCamp offers students the opportunity to cultivate creativity through fun, hands-on STEM experiences. All camps promote learning through designing, creating and engineering with technology and are sure to keep your young learner engaged this summer!
TechnoCamp is open to first- through fifth-grade students and will take place at Pike Middle School from June 6-9 and June 13-16. For more information, please visit technocamp.nisdtx.org.
