Great Falls Central Catholic High School 1.9.2020

Welcome to the Roaring Twenties!

Great Falls Central is off to a great start!

Kelli O'Neill has been selected to represent Montana and the state 4-H program at the Western National Roundup in Denver, Co this month! She is one of only 4 students in the state eligible to attend this national event which includes a leadership conference and a national judging contest. We are proud of her interest in agriculture and her diligence in pursuing it beyond her outstanding academic work in school.

We heard from Great Falls College that our own Rocky Vance made the fall semester Dean's List while still a student at GFCC, competing in sports, and participating in music at his local parish. Rocky is an accomplished young leader at GFC, and we are proud of his accomplishments.

Fr. Dick comes every month as part of our priest rotation to offer Mass, and he also offers Reconciliation for staff and students. You also might notice him at games and other events at GFC. We appreciate his servant's heart and willingness to minister to our students and to the adults.

Recovering History

Over the break, the administration team took 3 days off and then we were back at work on a big project. I noticed right away this fall that we didn't know what was in our classroom storage closet and that we couldn't walk into it. Over the break, I roped in everyone for a few hours to help me empty that room and identify what we needed to keep and what could go. In the process, we discovered lots of treasures.

One really exciting discovery in that closet was a box of old school newspapers called the Veritas from the original GFCCHS. We had a great time reading through these student published newspapers and learning more about the history of our school. A fun event no one had ever shared with us was the annual Round Table. It came up in lots of the newspapers we read and we are exploring the possiblity of bringing this event back to life in the spring here at the high school. Look below at the picture of the article that first captured our attention. It would look a little different today, but the possiblity of carrying forward a cherished tradition and giving it a new life is something that we think has merit. And who doesn't love a party?
