From the era of the Ming Dynasty in China to the expedition of Lewis and Clark in America, this broad period of time has influenced our modern society in a number of ways. Can you think of any specific events during this period that had a resounding impact on modern society?

Homeschooling Advice

Homeschooling Reflection: Loss of the Big Yellow Bus

"When we first landed, suddenly and unexpectedly, in the land of homeschooling, I had countless fears and concerns. And, to be honest, one of the biggest concerns was time. Will we drive each other completely berserk spending that much time together?

My oldest son, who landed us here in the homeschool world, has always been a funny, brilliant, energetic, and completely exhausting little human. I love him to bits, but he is a lot. To this day, he’s the reason for my morning coffee! When we first started homeschooling, I wondered if we’d drive each other bonkers.

As that big yellow bus pulled away without him that very first year, I wondered if I had made the right decision."

Shaemanique King - OC Family Liaison

I am a mom of four children, ranging in ages from 2 to 9 years old, and have homeschooled for the past five years. I consider my homeschooling style to be “eclectic” as I draw from many sources and philosophies. I enjoy planning and hosting activities and events and look forward to interacting with and supporting homeschooling families!

Yvonne Kahlen - OC Family Liaison

I have been a homeschooling mom for sixteen years. I have three children ranging in age from 16 to 21. I homeschooled my two oldest from Kindergarten through 12th grade. My youngest is currently a junior in high school and taking college courses concurrently.
