Month's Highlights!

On October 16th, was the annual Craft Sale organized by our School Foundation. The event was a huge success. Thank you to all the organizers, visitors, vendors and volunteers who participated!

On October 23rd, our girl's volleyball team participated in a tournament in Quebec. Thank you to the coaches Ms. Proulx and Ms. Leah for assisting our girls!

On October 24th, our breakfast program restarted! On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, children can come to the cafeteria to eat toast, yogurt, juice and cereal. Thank you to the volunteer and student helpers.

On October 26th, students from grade 4 and grade 5 had the opportunity to have cooking classes as part of MCDC's Bright Beginning project. All got to leave with a colorful apron!

ASJ basketball practices started in October. A special activity was held on November 4th for the boys basketball team. With their coaches Joseph Renaud and David Piperno, they attended a Rouge et Or basketball game at Université Laval.

November 8th was the first double header at school. Thank you to all the players, coaches (Lesley, Joseph and David) and the crowd who came to cheer! A good way to prepare for the games is to have spaghetti and donuts for supper! Thumbs up to the cooks!

Battery Contest

Once again this year, we are collecting batteries. Students are busy workers at lunch sorting out all the batteries brought in by community members. On October 13th, grades 5 and 6 had the opportunity to visit RIRT Thetford with the funds won last year.

Kitchen Brigade

Our Sec. 3 program "The Kitchen Brigade" is back this year. Students cook every Wednesday afternoon assisted by Ms. Brown and chef Josée Boissonneault.

Fillactive

Fillactive held their first activity on October 26th: country line dancing. Many other activities are planned throughout the school year.

Habitat Project

Ms. Poulin's grade 2 students as well as Ms. Curotte's grade 2/3 students have worked very hard during the last weeks on a cross-curricular project on habitats. They will be visiting the Aquarium de Québec on December 2nd to see animals in their habitats.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

On Friday, November 11th, our school will be holding its Remembrance Day Ceremony at 10:45 am. All are invited to attend. Poppies are also available at the office.

Orange and Protestant Children's Foundation

Thank you to the Orange and Protestant Children's Foundation, represented by Mr. Graydon Lowry, who generously donated $600 toward our breakfast program and $500 toward the Pathways class!

Governing Board News

The Governing Board met for the first time on Tuesday, October 11th. The date of the next Governing Board meeting is Tuesday, November 29th, at 7pm.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Parent-teacher interviews will be on Thursday, November 17th, and Friday, November 18th.

· Thursday night from 5pm-7:30pm

· Friday morning from 9am-10:30am

Information will be sent shortly via email to explain the booking process.

Reminders

SPES parents: It is getting chilly in our school yard! Do not forget to send your children to school with the appropriate gear: hats, neck warmers, mittens, gloves and pants.


Please do not forget to send utensils in your child's lunch box.

Rides Home

Elementary parents: you can send a message on Class Dojo to your child's teacher before 1:00 pm.


You can also call the office before 1:00 pm if you want your child to have a ride home.


In an effort to help out our secretaries, please try to make changes no later than 1:00 pm.

Reporting your Child's Absence

Do not forget to call the school to motivate your child's absence (418-335-5366).

Parents and Students: do not forget these services are available in our school!
