Free Breakfast and Lunch Meals for all Rountree Students
Allen ISD will offer free meals for all elementary and middle school In-Person Learners, as well as all At-Home Learners (PreK-12) through December 2020. This is part of a nationwide waiver issued from the USDA.
***Parents are encouraged to continue filling out the free and reduced application online at https://www.allenisd.org/domain/37. This will help speed up the process for the Spring term.***
Since September 21, 2020, Allen ISD has been providing free meals to students as part of the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program. Sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), this program will allow any student in elementary and middle school (Pre-K-8th) to receive a free breakfast and lunch meal in the school cafeteria, with the option to purchase a-la-carte items.
Additionally, the District will offer pre-ordered meals for all At Home learners (PK-12) at no cost. Pre-ordered meals can be picked up daily at Boyd Elementary, Rountree Elementary, Curtis Middle School and Ereckson Middle School from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. The meal will include one lunch and next day’s breakfast. Heating and holding instructions will be included so that families can heat their lunch at their convenience. Sign up is required each Friday for the following week at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdjneQ53z65cLN8s8FDWLU8LyZR-n_R-AYexDmi0YoQJ9r0gA/viewform
Curbside menus for the pickup location can be found at https://schools.mealviewer.com/district/AllenISD
Lowery Freshmen Center and Allen High School do not participate in the federally funded program and therefore meals will be charged as normal in those cafeterias; however, freshmen & high school students who are learning virtually are able to pre-order and pick up meals at the curbside locations at no cost. Freshmen and high school students qualifying for reduced meals will receive free meals through December 2020. Students eligible for free meals will continue to receive free meals for the duration of the 2020-2021 school year.
For more information on how the federal program operates, please visit www.squaremeals.org or www.fns.usda.gov.
2020-2021 Early Release Days - Early Childhood/Pre-K Students

On early release days, the Prekindergarten Program will operate on a modified schedule offering instruction only during the timeframe of 7:35 am - 10:35 am. To accommodate a balance in instruction for both the morning and afternoon sessions, two of the four district half days have been designated for each session to attend classes. The modified instructional schedule on early release days is outlined below:

Let's Communicate!
Communication between the home and school is valuable in creating a learning partnership to support the academic growth of students. Each year, Allen ISD designates a specific window of time for teachers to conduct formal conferences with parents regarding student progress. Traditionally, this is scheduled on campus during the last week of October. This year, elementary teachers will communicate with parents on academic progress through a variety of methods. Communication will occur during an extended period of time from now until mid-November and may include formal conferences, personalized phone calls, or academic reports.
As always, if you have specific concerns, you are encouraged to reach out to your child’s teacher.
Parent Survey - School/Home Compact Agreement
Please complete the survey to indicate your commitment and partnership agreement for your child's learning.
The school-parent compact is a written agreement between teachers and parents. It is a document that clarifies what families and schools can do to help children reach high academic standards. The compact is a written commitment and serves as a clear reminder of everybody’s responsibility to take action at school and at home so that children can learn what is required of them. The purposes of this agreement are to help parents and teachers come to a consensus on the responsibilities of the individuals influencing student achievement.

Education through Diversity Spotlight - Breast & Liver Cancer Awareness
October - Breast Cancer(pink ribbon) & Liver Cancer(green ribbon)
Awareness Month
Ribbons are often worn to support the research, funding and families that are affected by illnesses like breast and liver cancer. Cancer can come in all shapes and sizes and in any part of the body. Some African Americans working in the much needed field of research are Dr. Henderson III and Sigourney Bell. We should appreciate their hours of research and dedication to improving patients’ lives!
Dr. Henry J. Henderson III is a postdoctoral research scientist at Vanderbilt University. He is focusing on optimizing treatments for people with non-small cell lung cancer.
Sigourney Bell is a doctoral candidate at the University of Cambridge in the U.K. Her research focuses on developing models and therapeutics for a rare childhood brain tumor.
