REGISTER for the ENGAGE Conference of Leadership for Change TODAY!

Registration for the ENGAGE Conference of Leadership for Change at West Virginia Wesleyan is OPEN! Register by Feb. 26th to get the earlybird price at http://www.wvwc.edu/community-engagement/engage-conference! The one-day conference is March 12, 2016 and will feature three keynote presentations, multiple nonprofit organizations, and several workshop breakout sessions!

Get Up and Get Moving - Tuesday, February 16th and Thursday, February 18th

Volunteers are needed to help with Get Up and Get Moving on February 16th and 18th. Get Up and Get Moving is a healthy kids' initiative that takes place in two local elementary schools once a month and is focused on educating children about healthy and active lifestyles. Volunteers will help facilitate fun games and activities, educate children on special health topics, and serve as positive role models by interacting with children throughout the event.


If you would like to sign up for the event, please use the OrgSync links below. All event times include travel to and from schools. A carpool will be arranged for transportation, and those who wish to drive are encouraged to do so. We hope you will join us for the fun and games, and your help is greatly needed and appreciated!

Heavner Cemetery Project - AmeriCorps - Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 PM

Volunteers are needed for a cemetery research project directed by AmeriCorps member, Christina Rieth. Volunteers will analyze the conditions and materials of headstones in the cemetery. The project will last approximately four hours and the rain date is April 10th. Snacks and water will be provided.

Modern Day Slavery Interest Meeting - Wednesday, Feb. 17th at 7:00PM

Join the MDS WE LEAD team at their interest meeting to discuss consumer awareness related to human trafficking and modern day slavery. This conversation will focus on the clothing industry and sweat shops within the United States. The meeting will be held in the Center for Community Engagement located behind the Bobcat Den.

Animal Welfare Interest Meeting - Wednesday, Feb. 17th at 8:00PM

The Animal Welfare WE LEAD team will be holding an interest meeting to discuss the exciting opportunities that Humane Lobby Day brings to West Virginia! Join them as they start the semester off fresh with lots of new ideas on the horizon to bring awareness to the issues surrounding Animal Welfare! The meeting will be held in the Center for Community Engagement located behind the Bobcat Den.

Gender Equality Interest Meeting - Thursday, Feb. 18th at 7:00PM

Join the Gender Equality WE LEAD team for their first interest meeting of the semester. Please feel free to stop by and spend some time with the team as they discuss inequalities women face around the world as well as discussing their upcoming events. A small presentation will focus on issues women face in India. The meeting will be held in the Center for Community Engagement located behind the Bobcat Den.

OXFAM Change Leader

CHANGE is a student leadership program that begins with a week long training in Boston that serves as a crash course into Oxfam's mission to right the wrongs of poverty and injustices. The position of CHANGE leader is a year long commitment that requires the student leader to organize and host three to four Oxfam events during the academic year. CHANGE operates cross-country, so the leader will acquire a network of invaluable resources and

AmeriCorps Summer of Service - Horseshoe Leadership Center

AmeriCorps is looking for volunteers for the coming summer to serve as counselors, lifeguards, food service workers, and in facility upkeep at the Horseshoe Leadership Center's summer camp. Volunteers will be engaged from May 24th to July 30th for training and camp work. Volunteers will receive room and board, a weekly living allowance, and an educational stipend. Interested volunteers are encouraged to apply immediately.
