News from Mrs. Hughes
PTA Family Dance and Silent Auction
We are so excited about this event. Please check out the flyer attached to this newsletter! This dance and silent auction will be a wonderful family event and a great way for our PTA to raise some much needed funds. It is a luau theme and there will be food, auction items and of course dancing. Please also see a flyer regarding donations needed for the event. We auction off experiences, themed baskets made by each grade level, gift cards, works of art, toys, books, coupons, etc. If you have anything you would like to donate just bring it to our office or email our PTA.
When we say "family dance" that is exactly what we mean. We keep it very family friendly. We do not encourage or allow any students to "ask" each other to the dance. It's just a fun "group" atmosphere where families can have a good time. All school dress code rules apply as well...no heels higher than an inch, no spaghetti straps without a cover up, no excessively holey jeans or midriff or crop tops. These rules apply to older school age siblings that may attend. We also do not allow any drop-offs for this event. Every student must have a parent or adult guardian that is there to supervise them. Students may come with another family as long as there is an adult guardian. I apologize for all the do's and don'ts but these really do help us keep this event fun for everyone!
Thank you and get out your Hawaiian shirt for THIS FRIDAY, March 24th! It's going to be here before you know it!

Mrs. Hughes :)
Reading and Feeding 2023! Wow! From: Mrs. Dunn in the Library :)
Thank you, families, for a fantastic Reading and Feeding campaign! Lincoln Lions read for 140,273 minutes last month. They brought in $5,640.00 for our charities. What a success! Thank you to all of our sponsors for your generous support.
We had a wonderful celebration and thank you to all of our committee members who worked so hard to put it all together!
Courage is our CKH character trait of the month for March!
What is Courage?
Courage is the ability and strength to face something that may be difficult or challenging. Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather perseverance in the presence of fear and the willingness to stand up for what is right or try something new even though it may be uncomfortable or uncertain.
Why focus on Courage?
- Courage encourages engagement. Courage helps students raise their hand, participate, try new things, and voice their opinions.
- Courage builds self-confidence. Courage is the choice to act. By doing something, students increase their belief in themselves and their ability to do difficult or challenging things.
- Courage can help reframe a negative. When something does not go as planned or a student gets upset about a mistake or failure, courage can help reframe the event in a positive light.
Courage in Action:
- Provide leadership opportunities. Students can learn and demonstrate leadership by teaching and mentoring others, classroom roles and responsibilities, or community outreach.
- Encourage discussion and debate. Foster curiosity and empower students to formulate ideas and engage in respectful discourse and conversations.
- Celebrate failures. Create opportunities to reduce fear of failure and celebrate when students try something new, even if they are not successful the first time.
