Comfort Closet and Clothing Donations at MPS

MPS now has a "Comfort Closet." This space has basic necessities for students, such a deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste, socks, underwear, etc. for families and children in need. If you are interested in donating to this cause, please contact the school office or Nicole Stevens at 696-2212. The items we are in need of the most include:

  • Socks for little girls and boys (shoe size 11-3)
  • Leggings for girls size 4T - 8
  • Sweat pants for boys size 4T -8

Thanks for your kindness and care for our students!

Penny Wars at MPS ~ sponsored by Student Council

Positive pennies: Each penny is worth one point and counts “positively” toward a group’s point total; each silver coin or dollar bill gets points based on its value (a nickel is worth five points, a dime is worth 10, etc.), but counts “negatively” toward other groups’ totals. So in a competition between classrooms, students who want their class to win will place pennies and dollar bills into their own buckets and place nickels, dimes and quarters into other classroom buckets. All proceeds will go to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thanks for your donations!

New Medication Policy at MPS

The Manvel School Board has passed a new Medication Policy. Students are asked to bring any over the counter prescriptions to the office for safe storage. We cannot have students storing over the counter medications in their lockers. This is a safety issue and all OTC medications MUST be checked into the office for safekeeping until your child needs it. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students healthy and safe! See the link below for the official explanation of the policy on our MPS Website!

The Manvel Volunteer Fire Department received an Otter Tail Power Company Foundation Award! The funds will be used for the purchase of fire extinguishers for Manvel Public School families this spring. Chris Klie from Otter Tail presented the award. Big thanks to Richard Ray for writing the grant proposal.

Manvel Fire will work with the school to distribute the fire extinguishers and provide training on fire prevention and fire extinguisher use. We are excited for all our MPS Families!

Thanks to Mrs. Fruetel, the staff, parents and the community members who helped make Curling a GREAT success!

North Dakota State Assessment for Math, English/Language Arts/Writing, and Science

March is the time of year for schools across North Dakota to take the North Dakota State Assessment (NDSA). Please look for information from your child's teacher. This year, instead of our 4th & 8th graders taking the Science Test in the fall, it will now be given in the spring with the other state assessments. Under the North Dakota Century Code, parents have the right to "opt-out" of the state assessment for their child. If you are interested in this option, please talk to your child's teacher or print the form under the "parents" tab from our school website.
