Make A Blanket Day
What: Make a Blanket Day: Walled Lake/Novi presented by Kroger
When: Saturday, March 28, 2020, 12:00-5:00 p.m.
Where: Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI
Who: Residents, students, companies, and organizations of Walled Lake, Novi, and other surrounding communities
Why: Every year, 30,000 kids in Michigan have to stay in the hospital for extended periods of time. They all deserve color, comfort, and connection. At this event, we have a goal to make 1,000 fleece blankets and each one with a video message of support for the patient that receives it!
Spring Parent Teacher Conferences
The spring parent teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, March 19th by appointment only. If the teacher/parent feel a conference is needed, the teacher will be reaching out to those involved to schedule a time. If you feel you need to meet with the teacher, please let him or her know.
Deerfield Science Fair Has Been Rescheduled To Wednesday, March 11
WE ARE IN NEED OF SEVERAL MORE VOLUNTEERS TO SIGN UP AS LISTENERS SO THAT STUDENTS CAN PRESENT THEIR PROJECTS! Please consider signing up, even if your child has a project in the fair. We only need about 20 minutes of your time. If you would like to volunteer, please see the Sign Up Genius below:

March Is National Reading Month
Favorite Book Day - Is this week **THURSDAY, MARCH 12TH**
A flyer, with a name tag attached, should have come home on Friday. Parents, please help your child write the title of their favorite book on the name tag. Be sure to have your child wear the tag to school on Thursday, March 12th so he/she can talk about their favorite book and get ideas about new books to read.
- Calendar - Hope your child is enjoying the optional, fun reading activity calendar for the month of March! There is a different reading activity for every day of the month. Students that choose to use the calendar will earn rewards based on the number of activities completed. In order to receive the reading rewards, your child must complete the calendar and turn it in no later than Tuesday, March 31st. Please have your student turn their completed calendar in to Ms. Taylor in the Media Center. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Taylor at Kimberly.taylor@novik12@org or Jenny DeMore at thedemores@gmail.com.
- Night at the Library - Deerfield students will enjoy a fun night at the Novi Public Library! Students can come to the library in their pajamas and learn about all the great resources the library has to offer. Save the date for Friday, March 27th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Registration is required. Please register for this event at: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showRSVPSignUp/20f0c4cada62baafc1-night
- Reading Ambassadors - Thank you to all of our Reading Ambassadors for taking time to read their special book to the students in the Media Center! Keep reading!

Boxtops Update
So far we have been able to collect 2,850 boxtops for Deerfield. These, along with digital scans our families have been doing, means we are expecting over $300 in funds! Great job Deerfield families. Keep collecting your boxtops, as an easy way, to help financially support our school.
