Mechanical Engineer

By: Daniel Yera

Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies the principles of engineering, physics and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery and tools. An average mechanical engineer gets an annually salary of $80,580. To have this career, you must have a Bachelors Degree or higher. Three good universities to go to are The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University.

In the future (2020)

Electrical, electronics, computer, mechanical, aerospace, bio medical, and chemical engineers all fall within the low to mid sixties bracket. Salary is only one piece of information to consider when deciding an engineering specialization; one must also consider the projected growth rate as well as the number of projected new jobs. There will be some jobs in 2020, but not enough to fulfill everyone.
