Happy Campers
This Week
We continued our nature theme this week and celebrated the arrival of our caterpillars! We read books about how caterpillars grow and eventually turn into butterflies. Some other activities for the week included making caterpillars with dot markers, spelling our names with flower letters, planting seeds/watering the dirt, and coloring circular coffee filters with green and blue markers followed by squeezing water onto them with water droppers to create an earth. Ms. Sierra led a nature walk, and we used our checklists to find flowers, leaves, birds, and bugs outside. On Thursday we took part in National High Five Day by giving out lots of high fives to our friends!
With our friends from Room 4 and Room 15, we took turns doing puzzles, passed a ball around in a circle, jumped to different shapes on the rug, thought about same v. different, and talked about emotions. We also used binoculars and pretended to sleep in sleeping bags in our tent in the dramatic play area! During P.E., we alternated our feet while climbing stairs, played with cars/trikes, and went down different slides. In speech rotations, we read What's the Weather Like Today? and talked about the different kinds of weather we can have (e.g., sunny, windy, rainy, etc.). We also read Little Cloud and identified various types of animals and objects that Little Cloud changed into throughout the story (e.g., shark, bunny, hat, airplane, etc.). We also did a matching activity and identified types of nature (e.g., spider, ladybug, stick, leaf etc.), and matched them to corresponding pictures.
