Computational Models: Data Analysis
Middle School Computer Science Class
Student Objective: Use digital tools to design a computational model
Computer Science Standards:
MS.DA: Data Analysis : Refine computational models based on the data they have generated. Collect, analyze, transform, and refine computational data to make it more useful and reliable.
What is 3D CAD?
3D CAD (3-dimensional computer-aided design) is a technology that engineers, product developers and designers use to create functional, virtual prototypes of three-dimensional objects. With 3D CAD, designers can dynamically create and modify every detail of a product, part or assembly.

How can computational models help us solve real world problems?
Student Directions:
1. Think of a problem. How can you use 3D computational models to help solve the problem. Look at the links in the Explore and Research area to get some ideas for how people use 3D computational models. Create a 3D computational model using Tinkercad. How will your model help people? Research and collect data about your topic. Write a (at least six sentences) paragraph to explain how your 3D computation model will help people. Use text evidence from your research. Cite all your sources.
2. Watch the tutorial on how to use Tinkercad.
3. Use PowerPoint to take us on a tour of your creation. Use the record screen feature of powerpoint. Post your link to your project on the class padlet.
