Reading Honors
We have just finished our study of Fiction Signposts. As we begin our novel at the end of the week, students will be analyzing the book for the various elements of fiction we have been studying. They will identify signposts, identify and analyze symbolism, and make connections between these elements and the author's message to gain a deeper understanding of the material.
Students will be receiving grades for:
* warm ups (which include vocabulary and other notable items from the novel)
*quizzes over chapters covered
* and a weekly signpost tracker.

Science
October 20, 2017
Minerals, Elements, and Compounds - oh my! We will be exploring minerals and the physical properties that are used to identify them. What I love about this unit.....it is hands on! This unit will be followed by Elements and Compounds. Students will engage in interactive activities to become familiar with these concepts - including how matter is classified. We will continue to add important information to our science notebooks. Look for a quizlet in the coming weeks to prepare for the next test over these two units. We will take our 9 weeks test on October 24. We will review in class on Monday, October 23 the concepts we have covered so far. I have suggested to students to review their science notebooks as well as all notes and assignments that have been completed over the first nine weeks to prepare for the test.
