The Struggle on The Way Up
Michael Jordan attended Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, South Carolina. He anchored his athletic career by playing baseball, football, and basketball. He tried out for the Varsity basketball team during his sophomore year, although he measured at five foot eleven he was considered too short to play at that level. One of his friends named Harvest Leroy Smith became the only Sophomore to make the team. Michael Jordan became motivated to prove his worth on a team. Jordan became the star of Laney's Junior Varsity team, and tallied several forty point games. The following summer he worked very hard training and had grown taller. He finally earned a spot on the Varsity team where he averaged about twenty points per game on his final two seasons of HIgh School. He earned a spot on the McDonald's All-Star team and averaged twenty night points a game.
