Read Across America Week

Read Across America Week is here! On February 28 - March 4 St. Mary's will join schools throughout the country to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss and our love of reading! To celebrate the week we are having themed days, each inspired by a Dr. Seuss book. Here is the schedule for the week:

Monday: If I Ran the Zoo - Wear animal prints or camo and bring one stuffed animal to read with at school (stuffed animal MUST fit in backpack)

Tuesday: My Many Colored Days - Wear as many colors as you can!

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday: The Foot Book - Wear your wackiest socks and mismatched shoes with school uniform clothing (Pre-K thru 5th Grade will change into unmatched shoes after Mass)

Thursday: Oh, The Places You’ll Go! - Wear clothing from a vacation trip or your favorite place

Friday: The Sleep Book - Wear your pajamas or comfy clothing to school, we will be celebrating reading all day! Guest and faculty readers, reading buddies, and DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) will be fun additions to our day

Students may be out of dress code each day EXCEPT WEDNESDAY if they participate in the day's theme. If a student chooses not to participate in a day’s theme, he or she must be in school uniform (K-5th Grade). Non-ripped jeans, leggings, and sweat pants are appropriate bottoms to wear each themed day, but please ensure your Kindergarten - 5th Grade child is in uniform clothing for Mass on Ash Wednesday.

Rescheduled Charity Dress Day for March

Charity Dress Day usually falls on the first Wednesday of each month during the school year. Due to how the March calendar falls this year, the first Wednesday of the month is Ash Wednesday. Students who attend Mass in uniform (Kindergarten - 5th Grade) should wear school uniform clothing this coming Wednesday with their wacky socks and unmatched shoes. We have moved March's Charity Dress Day to the following week, Wednesday, March 9.

March's Free Dress Day is going to be a fun day...students may wear St. Patrick's-themed clothing on Thursday, March 17! Students may also wear typical free dress clothing as well, too.

Joplin Greenhouse and Home & School Partnership

Joplin Greenhouse and St. Mary's Home and School are partnering for an exciting fundraiser for our school! Just in time for your spring planting and yardwork projects, Joplin Greenhouse is offering a generous way to raise money to support our students, faculty and staff, and entire school community!

Our fundraiser begins on March 1 and will continue through the end of April. With every $25 dollars spent in gift card sales, Joplin Greenhouse will donate a generous percentage back to St. Mary's. Gift cards may be purchased for ANY amount in $25 dollar increments, and can be used for both Joplin Greenhouse and The Coffee Shop purchases. Gift cards will be delivered to families twice a month. More information and an order form will be included in next Friday's Communicator Envelope, but start thinking of spring flowers, landscaping projects, and delicious cups of coffee now!

Preschool and Elementary Dismissals

Thank you for your help and patience with preschool and elementary car line dismissals. We will be continuing dismissal by car line until Spring Break, returning to dismissal from classroom doors when we return to school on Monday, March 28. Half-day preschool students, full-day preschool students, and all elementary students will be dismissed from classroom doors, returning to our school tradition before March 2020. If you have any questions about dismissal, please do not hesitate to contact me.
