From the Principal
Dear Parents,
We made it to Spring Break. I hope you all have a fantastic vacation or staycation next week. Our year has flown by quickly and when students return, we enter into some pretty busy months. We will have testing during the month of April and May will close with Field Day and a celebration of our outgoing fifth graders. Our staff will continue on with class placements, wrapping up curriculum, and hiring. The end of school is truly one of our busiest times of the year.
Thank you to all of the parents who attended community meetings last week for District 1 & 2. I want to specifically thank Michelle Cardillo for making me aware that often times parents may not know who our board members are, what they do, and why their meetings are important. Fulton County Schools board member positions are elected by the public. Here at Crabapple Crossing, we are unique in that we have two board members. They are Katie Reeves and Katha Stuart. These ladies are always open to hearing your concerns as parents and they take these concerns back to the school board meetings and retreats. They have an impact on change and policies. I encourage you to come join us one month. The dates and times are always posted at the bottom of my newsletter.
Please see the photo below of Mr. Curtis Martin who was recognized Thursday at the FCS Volunteer Luncheon held at Georgia Tech Conference Center. We would like to congratulate Curtis and thank him for being a leader on our School Governance Council.
Thank you to our CCES Chorus for coming out to the GA Swarm game last Saturday night to sing the National Anthem. Our students sounded fantastic. It was great to see so many families out enjoying the weekend in Gwinnett. Please see photo above.
Have a fantastic Spring Break and make sure to recharge your batteries to get you through the end of the school year!

March Music Performances
This past week we finished Music In Our Schools Month with two more performances by CCES students. On Saturday, the CCES Chorus took to the field at Infinite Energy Arena and sang the Star Spangled Banner to open the Georgia Swarm lacrosse game (see photo at top). They did a great job and represented our school well. This past Tuesday, our 3rd graders presented their concert, “All the Colors.” They wore every color of the rainbow and worked together to entertain the audience with singing, playing and movement. Enjoy the pictures below.

Georgia Milestones Assessment
During the month of April, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking the Georgia Milestones Assessment. 3rd and 4th grade students will take the ELA and Math End of Grade assessment while our 5th grade students will take the End of Grade Assessment in the areas of ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Teachers will indicate exact testing dates for their classes via newsletters. We know that our students will perform well due to the high level of instruction they receive each day. We encourage students to work carefully and do their best. This is a message that is not limited to just testing, but applies to other academic and social areas as well. Please remember that lunch visitors and volunteers will not be admitted during the month of April to help us maintain a calm and orderly environment. If you have any questions about testing, please reach out to Mrs. Richardson at richardsona1@fultonschools.org.
