Activity #1

Name Writing and Letter Formation

Letters are formed in a “top-down” formation; this type of writing can be used in any way: whiteboard, sidewalk chalk, blank paper, etc.

Look at the handouts below for verbal path and arrow letter formation examples.

Then have your child practice with the Rainbow Writing activity and their name.

Remember to use both upper and lower case letters!

Activity #2

Letter Sounds and Beginning Sound Recognition

Knowing what sounds each letter makes is an important and easy skill to practice with your child. This can be done throughout the day. During meal time, walks, car rides, etc. Use the Beginning sound clip cards and Foundations Key Word Chart to help identify the first sounds of words.
