College & Career ~ Ms. Parker, Mrs. Dickerson, and Mr. Thames
Last week we began research on an important topic to create a Public Service Announcement
Students will work in groups to enhance their writing skills and understanding of the visual arts by creating a script and storyboard this week in order to begin filming their PSA
We will also continue to work on basic grammar skills in our daily warm-ups.
Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Goulding and Ms. Mondon
Tuesday will be our district Learning Based Assessment over our chemistry, force, motion and energy learning targets covered.
This week we will continue our learning targets on thermal energy.
Thermal energy can be transferred within a system, or from one substance to another.
In what ways is thermal energy transferred within a system, or from one substance to another?
What patterns exist within the transfer of thermal energy?
Energy cannot be created or destroyed.
In what ways does the law of conservation of energy apply to the transfer of thermal energy within a system, or from one substance to another?

Students will take the district math Learning Based Assessment on Tuesday.
We will continue our study over summarizing and interpreting numeric data with numerical summaries and representing numeric data graphically, including dot plots, stem-and-leaf plots, histograms, and box plots.
The daily math warm-up will consist of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers fluently. Students will have a short quiz over this material on Friday.
Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Baird
Students will work in small groups to complete a Carnival Probability Project.
Projects will be presented in class on Thursday.
See project rubric (coming home Monday) for more details.
Our class Probability Carnival will take place Thursday and Friday.
Students should log into Think Through Math weekly during STEAM U.

Humanities ~ Ms. Curtis and Mrs. Lindamood

Monday: Achieve3000 article **Remember to do 2 this week!**
Tuesday: STAAR practice reading and questions (daily grade)
Wednesday-Thursday: T-shirt book project writing (test grade)
Friday: Book shirt designing **Bring your shirt to school today!**
Book t-shirts do not have to be white, but if you bring a colored shirt, make sure your design, quote, and slogan are clearly visible, ie. don’t use dark markers/paint on a dark shirt.
You may bring your own art supplies to school on Friday to work on your shirt, but you will be responsible for them throughout the day. Don’t leave them in my classroom, or they might get used!
Extra credit for the 5th six weeks is due Friday, or it will carry over to the 6th six weeks.
I will be available for tutoring/makeups Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school 4:00-5:00 p.m.
In World Cultures, we will be taking our unit test over Africa Monday. Beginning Tuesday, we will begin our study over Asia.
Please check Skyward for any missing or low grades. I will be available after school for tutoring or make ups on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I will also do a “working lunch” if needed.
Art ~ Mrs. Bishop
Students this week will begin researching energy and we will discuss the myriad of ways to translate this visually! We will discuss a range of topics from propaganda to emotions. Movement and rhythm will surely show up and students will experiment and create with digital art, painting and pastels.
Junior Vase is this Saturday at Hillwood Middle School in Keller. We have about 11 students competing and I know they will do amazing!!!

This week we are beginning a new project of drawing people in motion.
We will be reviewing proportion, movement, value, form, and color.
Learning a new medium, chalk pastels.
Practicing gesture sketches and capturing movement
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
Band students will continue working on their concert selections this week in preparation for their end of the year concerts.
New band students for next year will have the opportunity to try out instruments on Monday and Tuesday from 4-7pm of this week to be placed into their beginning band class for next week.
