SPECIAL EDITION - December 2, 2022


James Hand has been named to the position of Director of Maintenance and Operations for Fargo Public Schools. He will assume the position on December 12, 2022. He takes over from Blake Mikesell who left the District for a position outside the field of education.

Hand Named FPS Director of Maintenance and Operations

James Hand has more than a decade of experience in the fields of construction and facility management and is an active and engaged member of the Fargo-Moorhead community. Prior to accepting his position at FPS, Hand had served in business development at Construction Engineers in Fargo since 2018. He began his professional career as a New Home Specialist at Heritage Homes where he worked from 2011-14. He was a Design Phase/Project Engineer at Mortenson from 2014-17. And he was a Project Manager at Richards Excavating from 2017-18.

Hand holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from North Dakota State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Mary.

Hand serves on a wide variety of committees and boards across the Fargo-Moorhead metro area. He is a board member and Vice President of the International Facilities Management Association – Red River Valley Chapter; a board member and President Elect of the YMCA of Cass and Clay County; a member at large and chair of the City of Moorhead Park Advisory Board; a member of the City of Moorhead Economic and Development Authority; a member of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Leadership Committee; a member and former president of the Moorhead Business Association; and President Elect of the Fargo Rotary Board of Directors.
