A note from the Principal

Dear Parents & Caregivers

CEWA Low Fees Initiative

As part of Catholic Education’s strategic direction to make Catholic education more accessible and affordable to families, St Mary’s will be participating in a new low fee initiative for 2022. The low fee initiative will see student fees drastically reduced with extra support and funding being made available to ensure that our students’ schooling experience is not compromised, and we can continue on with the great work started at St Mary’s this year. This is a very exciting opportunity for our school that will financially support our current families as well as make our school more appealing to others. More information, including an updated fee structure, will be sent home to parents shortly.

Mrs Cross

Last week we said goodbye to Mrs Cross, who has left us for the year to go and have baby number two. Nicola is a much-loved member of our staff and we are looking forward to having her back on the team in the future. We wish Nicola all the best for the year ahead and the safe arrival of her little girl.

Mrs Sheehan

Please be advised that Mrs Sheehan has taken leave until the end of the year. We welcome Mrs Reynolds and Miss Runeckles who will be working with Miss Jendrzejak to cover her lessons.

Kindergarten 2022

St Mary’s 2022 Kindergarten program is filling up fast and we are nearly at capacity. Recently we announced that Kindy will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays next year and that Miss Chelsea Moore will be their teacher. Chelsea comes to us from Queen of Apostles School in Riverton and has 17 year's experience as an early year’s educator. If you are interested in enrolling in Kindy next year, please contact the office ASAP. We also have places available in all other year groups.

Remembrance Day

Our Year 5 Class will be leading our Remembrance Day Service which will be held at 2:30pm today, the 11th of November. Due to swimming lessons, we are unable to hold the traditional 11am service.

School Swimming

Our school swimming program has commenced, with students being transported to and from the Donnybrook Leisure Centre pool every day over the next two weeks to work on their strokes and swimming ability. Thank you to Mrs Lomax and Mrs Humphries for coordinating the program.

Interschool Athletics

Just in case you haven’t heard…St Mary’s are the Interschool Athletics champions for 2021. Thank you to Mrs Pettersen for organizing last week’s carnival and to our P&F who coordinated the lunch and cake stall. Well done to all involved!

Leonardo Day

On Friday 26th November, our Year 5 and 6 students will be participating in Leonardo Day. Leonardo Day is a fun, interactive Science fair which will be held in Brunswick this year. Information will be sent home to parents of those involved soon.

The School Advisory Council and Parents and Friends Annual Community Meeting is planned for Monday 22nd November at 6pm. All parents and friends are invited to attend. Nomination forms for positions were sent home a few weeks ago. If you would like to nominate and didn't receive one, please contact the school office.

P&F Meeting

We have our last P&F Meeting for the year being held on Tuesday 16th November at 8:50am in the staffroom. All parents and friends are welcome.

Nativity and Christmas Concert

Our Nativity and Christmas concert night will be held on Thursday 25th November beginning at 5:30pm. This year, our classes will be performing a Christmas carol followed by a celebratory end of year dance as well as the Nativity play. Please book this date in your calendar.

BCC Orientation Day

Bunbury Catholic College have announced that Tuesday 23rd November 2021 will be the Year 7 2022 Orientation Day. For more information, please visit BCC’s website.

P&F Apple Fun Park Day

On Friday the 3rd December, we will have our final assembly for the year followed by a school excursion for Years 1 to 6 students, supported by the P&F, to the Apple Fun Park. This promises to be a fun event for our students and a celebration of all their hard work this year. Please mark the day in your calendars.

Painting and Maintenance

The painting and maintenance program at St Mary’s has commenced, and work will continue over the term and holidays until it is completed. The program will see the school repaired, modernised and freshened up in preparation for the 2022 school year.

Kind regards,

Mr Andrew Gammon

P&F News

St Mary's P&F are running a quick end of year fundraiser through ezy fundraising to raise funds for future projects at our school. We are selling 22 x marine grade stainless steel pegs which come in a lovely little calico bag. These eco-friendly pegs are not only great for holding washing on the line, but can be used as an alternative to bulldog clips, paperclips etc

All families received an order form and information sheet this week. If you didn't receive one, and would like to take part in this fundraiser, please contact the office. A sample of the pegs is available at the office.

The information sheet is a PDF attached below and also available on our Facebook page to help you share with your friends and families.

God bless,

St Mary's P & F

We will be collecting for the Annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal again this year for those that are doing it tough. We encourage you to drop in any unperishable items to the Front Office to help those in need. Items will be collected by Vinnies Bunbury after the 10th December.
