October Celebrations

Eating together. Wow, that seems to get harder and harder as our lives are pulled in so many different directions. We know that it is important in our lives and our children's lives, but do you know just how important it is? Studies show that when children eat meals with their families, they are healthier and do better in school. They learn to eat better, have better manners, learn how to have conversations and engage, and make so many important memories. So plan, prepare and enjoy that family meal. I often tell families to try a "New Food Friday" routine where you are all trying a new food together. This will encourage everyone (not just our kiddos) to expand your variety while eating. (Come on, how many of you have really tried lima beans?) This could be done once a month or once a quarter - you pick. You could set up a chart to see who likes it or just go around the table and decide - who knows, you may all like it!

Did you know October is also National Organize Your Medical Information month. It's overwhelming sometimes to think of all the papers we have around and get on a daily basis. Set aside a few minutes each day to work on getting yourself organized! You'll be glad you did!

Be sure to use caution when making the apple pie. Some children are not ready to use a knife and cut the apple, please do this for them! They can still do all the other pieces to this video!
