From the Principal:
One of my favorite pleasures as principal is to recognize student effort. This year my Principal's Leadership Award will recognize our student leaders in grades K-6 based on the 7 Habits that students are learning and applying everyday. The purpose of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids is to help students lead their lives in a truly effective way. The 7 Habits represent a proven process of personal and interpersonal growth that can have a life-long impact. (Franklin Covey). Please congratulate student leaders that you see recognized in the newsletter. We will have our next LEAD Day on Jan. 30th and will learn more about Seeking to Understand, Then to Be Understood. Ask your child what they learned about this habit and how they will implement it at home.
Here is a list of the 7 Habits and their basic definition:
Be Proactive: I'm in charge of me
Begin With the End in Mind: Have a plan
Put First Things First: Work first, then play
Think Win-Win: I win, you win, we win
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Listen before you talk
Synergize: Together is better
Sharpen the Saw: Balance feels best
We are excited to have students who have applied for and were chosen to be our Newsletter Leaders. These students will give information about the 7 Habits and how they are being applied in our school. They're also going to post pictures from around the school that includes the 7 habits. Look for their information under the Learning from Our Leaders.
Students and staff are encouraged to come to school "Mismatched" on Friday, February 7th for a dollar. The money collected will be given to the Eagle Packs program that provides a bag of food for qualified students to take home over the weekend.
Have a Great Weekend!

LEARNING FROM OUR LEADERS
How to Think Win-Win
Kids think win-win by not just one person having victory, but everyone having victory. If two or more people work together to accomplish something, they are thinking Win- Win.
Here are some teachers perspective on Win-Win:
Mr.Ashton-When the ball goes out of bounds, not to fight over it but to be nice to each other.
Mr. Hartley- Work together and do what they want to do.
Mrs. Betz- Kids can be helpful and leaders in the classroom. Giving jobs to kids lets us have time to create art!
We want you to think about using Think Win-Win at your home.
