Nuts & Bolts
March 25, 2019
It was a super busy and exciting week for MMA! Thank you, teachers, for your engagement in part II of professional learning on Monday. I feel like we made excellent progress and set ourselves up well for our summer work. Thank you, Sunshine Committee, for hosting another great and productive Pizzapalooza.
Thank you for supporting STEM week, science fair, and spelling bee. The extra work put into MMA's science fair winners to prepare for Ritchey Science Fair at WSU paid off. MMA students were recognized 9 times at Ritchey. Also, two of our students represented us well at the regional spelling bee. Be sure to check out the pictures from Ritchey and the regional spelling bee on this week's MMM.
The Gala was absolutely lovely and a fundraising success. Check out the pictures in the MMM. Snowbasin provided the perfect backdrop for this event. MAPA outdid themselves, as usual, by hosting such an elaborate event. They did amazing work getting donations together for the silent auction and organizing the dinner and art. Thank you to those staff members who attended Gala. Your presence was very much appreciated and says much about your support and dedication to MMA. Parents very much noticed and spoke to me about who was in attendance. Thank you all for allowing your students to create such beautiful (and expensive) art pieces with parent volunteers. My favorite part is hearing the story behind each art piece.
I hope you were all able to rest and rejuvenate during our rainy/snowy Sunday. Have a good week, this last week before spring break. I don't know about you; but, I could use some down time during spring break. Thanks for hanging in and teaching awesome lessons for five more days before break,
This one feedback form will cover the curriculum discussions and work completed on March 15th and 18th.
G&C Challenge - Asking Permission
I frequently hear that there is a lack of grace and courtesy in our building. Most recently, this was discussed at our advisory meeting. There were several reasons brought up that could be causing this phenomena. I would like us to try to address this by recognizing grace and courtesy when we see it happening.
Thank you for practicing and recognizing G&C when greeting others.
This week I would like to pose a challenge for you to recognize students, families, and colleagues who ask permission with grace and courtesy.
We have to start our "accident" counter over at zero after last week. We did have an instance of feces in the bathroom and not in the toilet. We do not think that it was malicious; perhaps a messy and unfortunate accident. Always giving the benefit of the doubt. . .
A good thing that I observed this week was a boy giving another boy a hard time when he came out of the single stall near the office because there was soap all over the floor. The boy coming out of the bathroom felt so much pressure, he went back into the bathroom to clean up the soap off the floor.
Thank you for continuing to sign students in and out of our classrooms and conducting periodic bathroom checks, as indicated on the spreadsheet sent out last week.

Requests from the Office
To maintain our copiers and respect the time of the front office personnel, please no longer ask students to make copies or otherwise be in the teacher workroom unaccompanied. Click here to get a treat. Plus, there is sometimes confidential student information that may be accessible.
If you borrow any of the carts from the workroom, please return them immediately. These carts are used consistently each week.
