Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Hart Families,
The year is definitely winding down fast. Can you believe that we only have 10 more wake-ups? You will notice below that we added a "Week at a Glance" for the next two weeks. Hopefully, you can take a screenshot of those graphics , and it will help you stay on track for all of the different events and make the next two weeks a little less stressful. Our staff and students continue to work hard to finish our year strong.
On Friday, our 1st Graders had their annual Mother's Day tea where they celebrated their awesome Mom's. Students shared poetry, songs, and treats during this special day. On behalf of the Hart Elementary Teachers and Staff, I would like to wish all of the Mother's a very Happy Mother's Day.
Last week I shared that as a Leader, one of my personal goals is to continuously grow and improve to better serve our community. As part of my reflection process, I am seeking feedback from you, our amazing parents. Thank you in advance for helping me grow as a Leader. The survey will close on Wednesday, May 17th! Please only complete the survey one time.
I hope that. you have a fantastic weekend. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at anytime.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

My mission is to be a servant leader who works with students, parents, and staff to build a community that fosters relationships and learning where everyone THRIVES. Each day, I strive to make the choice to be great versus comfortable, because you can't be both!

K-2 Talent Week
Field Day
Field Day is an event where all students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that display their athletic skills and teamwork with their classmates. This year’s event is slated for Tuesday, May 23, 2023. K-2nd will participate from 8:45am - 11:20am and 3rd and 4th from 12:15pm - 2:45pm. We encourage ALL students to wear their grade-level T-shirt on this day.
Students will progress through different skills events, rotating every 15 minutes to the next zone. (7 1/2 mins per station). We will allow 5 minutes to progress to the next station and refill water bottles if needed. Some of the events include Bowling, Kickback, Volleyball Mania, water events, and a few traditional events like Golf Ball Balance and Sack Race.
Coach Blom asks that students come properly attired in shorts or sweatpants with running shoes. See information below regarding “Appropriate Swimwear” for the water events. Make sure your child/children bring a water bottle that can be refilled several times and labeled with his/her name. Also, please send a change of clothes to change into after the completion of Field Day. It is a good idea to bring a backpack to carry these items in. And, don't forget the sunscreen! This day will be a sack lunch day.
Events will take place on the playground, in the gym, and in the cafeteria. We are hoping to have some High School helpers to help out during the event and are appreciative of the parents who have signed up to volunteer.
GIRLS: 1 piece bathing suit, shorts & water shoes. Please no 2-piece bathing suits w/out wearing a shirt over it.
BOYS: Swim trunks w/grade level t-shirt and water shoes/tennis shoes.
Please bring a change of clothes to change into after the conclusion of Field Day, especially K-2 grade.
Thank you,
Coach Blom

Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
ACTION NEEDED! Intent to Return Form
Good Afternoon Lovejoy Families,
If you haven't already, please complete our Intent to Return to Lovejoy ISD form, this information will help plan for a successful school year and prepare for adequate staffing. The form can be found here.
We are looking for responses from all Lovejoy ISD families.
Thank you for your help and support. It’s great to be a Leopard!

MEDICATIONS - Please make sure your child has exactly enough medication to finish the school year. Lovejoy ISD has a policy prohibiting extra medication to be returned home with the student, this includes any non-prescription medication. Therefore, a parent or guardian must pick up the medication at the clinic. Medications will need to be picked up by Friday, May 26th at noon.
Any remaining medications, including inhalers, will be discarded at the end of the school year. Medications cannot be stored during the summer months. Please remember if your child will continue to need medications during the 2023-2024 school year, you will need to have a new medication form (and action plan if needed) completed for the fall.
