Principal's Report - Dr. Phillip Reavis

2nd Grade Testing

Second grade students will be involved in Greenville County Schools testing program October 24-28, 2016. All second grade students in Greenville County will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (IOWA). The CogAT and IOWA are untimed and are teacher-directed for second grade.Testing will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day and will last less than two hours. To provide the best testing environment for our students, parents are not allowed in or near the second grade classrooms until testing is over each day.

Fall Bookfair at Oakview

The Bookfair is coming! Stop by the Bookfair and support Oakview’s library starting Monday, October 24 through Friday, October 28.

Grandparents Day – November 22, 2016

Every three years, Oakview hosts one of its favorite events, Grandparents Day! On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, grandparents from around the world will come to Oakview to spend time with their grandchildren. Invitations for this year’s big event are coming home in book bags so get ready!

PTA President's Report - Mandi Morin

Oakview PTA is working hard this fall! We appreciate all of our families and friends who pledged money for our Boosterthon Fun Run! We have collected 90% of our pledges which totaled just greater than $88,000. We are still accepting payments via cash or check or by online payment at www.funrun.com. Thank you for your support of Oakview Elementary PTA!

The Fall Bookfair and Red Ribbon Week are this week from October 24 - 28. Also, the Hootenanny Fall Festival is coming soon on November 4. Please check your emails from your room coordinators concerning volunteer opportunities for Hootenanny. We appreciate all of our volunteers!

Bookaneer Book Fair - WHERE BOOKS ARE THE TREASURE!

Please plan to join us at the Fall Book Fair. Opening day is Monday, October 24 and the fair will continue through Friday, October 28. This is a wonderful opportunity to build personal and classroom libraries. All proceeds from the Book Fair benefit our Media Center, so please consider supporting this important event!

WHOOOOOOO'S READY TO HOOT...IT...UP?

Oakview Families...MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! The 14th Annual Hootenanny is on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4 from 4:30 - 9:00 p.m. We will have rides, games, food and prizes...OH MY!

Would you like to help out by folding and fluffing the paper flowers? We will be folding the tissue paper on Wednesday, October 19 and Thursday, October 20 in the cafeteria after drop off. The dates for fluffing are Tuesday, November 1 and Wednesday, November 2 in the cafeteria after drop off. You don't have to have any experience and it's a lot of fun. Come and join us!

We will once again have the Basket Raffle. If you, or someone you know, has a business and would like to donate toward the raffle, please email us at oeshoot@gmail.com.
