Transportation
The Iowa City Community School District provides transportation for students each year as required by the State of Iowa. The requirements are outlined below:
- Students in grades K-8 shall be entitled to transportation only if they live more than 2.0 miles from the school designated for attendance.
- Students in grades 9-12 shall be entitled to transportation only if they live more than 3.0 miles from the school designated for attendance.
Parents/Guardians are required to complete the Application for Pupil Transportation to request busing for their child(ren). Applications can be found at www.IowaCitySchools.org/Transportation and must be submitted to your school office no later than April 1, 2019.
Once an application is completed and submitted to your school office, the application will “roll over” from year to year as long as the student’s address and school remain unchanged. If, however, the student’s address or school changes, parents/guardians will be responsible for submitting a new transportation application. This includes building changes when moving into junior high and high school.
Questions can be directed to your school office or the District’s Transportation Manager at (319) 688-1187. Thank you.
Pancake Day
CALLING ALL ELEMENTARY, JUNIOR HIGH, HIGH SCHOOL, & ALUMNI LITTLE HAWKS
PANCAKE DAY IS COMING!!!
The annual Pancake Day is a critical fundraiser for the athletic department at City High & Southeast Junior High. City High received over $30,000 from the District Booster Club for Stadium Cleanup and Pancake day this past year. 100% of that money went to the athletic program’s critical needs for supplies and equipment for all of our 21 interscholastic sports. Money earned went towards new uniforms, practice equipment (like balls, football helmets and nets), field equipment (everything from hurdles, to pitching machines, to blocking sleds) and capital improvements (irrigation, field restorations, sound equipment etc…).
We could not survive as an athletics program without the support of the District Booster Club and the Little Hawks Booster Club. Pancake Day is a wonderful joint effort of our entire community with hundreds of volunteers lending their talents to make this a success. I know many of you have signed up through Signup Genius to work a shift https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b45a4a82da6f85-2019 however, we still need almost TWENTY volunteers. You can also support us with a direct donation (http://www.iccsdfoundation.org/pancake-day/ ), or pre-purchasing tickets from your mailing or online at http://www.iccsdfoundation.org/pancake-day/ Please consider coming to support this great community effort.
However, the most important thing we need is people there to EAT! This is a great day for our elementary, junior high, high school and of course alumni to join together. If you are a family who is or will be participating in athletics at Southeast Junior High or City High, we need you! Please make the trip to the West High cafeteria and eat for a great cause!
Tickets for the event can also be purchased at the door on March 30th. It has been an Iowa City Schools Tradition for going on its 6th decade and we need your support now more than ever. Thank you for your support!!!!! If you need more information, please contact the City High athletic office.
Date: Saturday, March 30th
Location: Iowa City West High cafeteria
