Hawk Talk

A Message from the Principal
Hobby Family,
As we approach the MLK holiday, take time to rest, recharge and remember.
This is a good time to recenter and reevaluate our “Teacher-Student-Parent Compact”
for the Hobby M.S. community.
What is a compact?
Our compact explains how teachers, students, and parents will share the responsibility for improved student academic success. This compact outlines how teachers, students, and parents will work together to achieve our goals.
Teacher-Student-Parent Compact
Praise, Promote & Protect.
As Always, YOU MATTER!

Second quarter report cards
Academic report cards for the second grading period of the school year will be available in the Home Access Center (HAC) after 4 PM Jan. 11, 2021. Specific directions for accessing the report can be found on the parent tab of our District website.
Parents will be encouraged to review their child's second quarter grades with them and to reach out to campus staff with any concerns. Specifically, if a child is not being successful in a virtual learning mode, options may exist for an earlier return to in-person learning if sufficient space exists at their home campus.
To log in to HAC or to create an account, parents can visit our HAC Quick Start guide.

NEW: Parent Single Sign On to Access State Assessment
Assessment Scores in HAC - ALL LEVEL
A student’s state assessment score history is now available 24/7 through Northside ISD’s Home Access Center (HAC). Directions are attached to be shared with parents electronically as scores are released.
HS Principals, you will get your December 2020 STAAR EOC results on Friday, 1/15, and parents will have access to scores through HAC on Monday, 1/18.
NOTE: Due to school closures in Spring 2020 related to the COVID-19 public health crisis, state testing during that time was waived and therefore students may have partial or missing scores. Students who earned course credit in Spring or Summer 2020 for a course with a related state assessment canceled due to school closures will not have to make up incomplete or missing assessments.
If parents do not currently have a HAC account, they may follow the instructions here to create one. Once the account has been created, parents may view their child’s state assessment score history by following the steps attached.

N-Genius- Help with Devices
Northside now has N-genius, a “Geek-Squad” located at the Kelly Smith Technology Center
to support student issues with the school issued technology. Therefore, Hobby will no longer swap out chromebooks. If a student’s Chromebook is damaged or malfunctions, contact the student hotline at (210) 397-0020 to schedule an Ngenius appointment. If needed, while the Chromebook is under repair, Hobby will issue a loaner Ipad so the student can access Schoology and be marked present in their classes.
